On Sunday our group enjoyed a trip to Go Fun Station in Cedar Rapids. A day filled with wall climbing, zip lining, rope course, giant slides, trampoline, climbing park for little ones and also put put gold and duck pin bowling. Think everyone had a great time and is probably ready for more. Thank you to everyone that came and enjoyed the day with us.

One of our community service projects was helping Serve Outdoors get ready for their banquet. On January 17 these young ladies helped prepare the meal to serve at the banquet. The kids also helped serve, work the auction, and clean up afterwards. We try to do different skills for everyone to learn or just try new things. Thank you to all the kids that came and participated in the event.

What a great day for shooting sports. The weather was great and we had 10 shooters. Pictures of rifle and archery. Great day to get the kids outside and let them shoot. Been a cold long winter so far. We will not be having our Wild Game Sampler this year but will be back March 2027 bigger and better. Stay tuned to our page for updates on what is happening with our group and what we are learning.

We had a 4-H leader training meeting to kick off 2026. A theme i chose for 4-H shooting sports was GROWTH.

There are several things we are working to update to be in compliance with 4-H Federal rules.and regulations. That being said we need to have a quick meeting on January 17th at 4pm. We will all be there for the Serve Banquet so we felt this would be a good time.

The reason for the meeting is to discuss and vote on having a wild game feed and also completing all.the necessary forms required for the event.

Agenda for the meeting will be:
Vote on whether to have the Wild Game feed.
If you vote to hold it we need to set a budget on how much we Will spend.
If we are having it we need to figure out a budget as to what to spend the money on.
We will votes on supplies that are.going to be required to restructure our club
If you vote to have the Wild Game feed we will discuss getting donations and how to ask for.donations from possible donators.

Please bring any questions with you that night or let me know ahead of time. If you cant be there if you contact me with what your suggestions are and what you vote is we Will count it.

Look forward to seeing everyone Saturday afternoon.

This is a reminder that January 17th will be the Serve banquet. This is one of our community service projects. I am asking each family to bring a dessert to serve that night and the kids to be there around 4:30. We will be serving and help clean up. They should be done by 9pm. Please let me know if you are going to be there so I know how to break down the chores for the evening. Thanks for all your support.

Big thank you to everyone that came to the meeting yesterday. As with every January we clean and maintain our equipment. This teaches the kids how to take care of their equipment at home. We also passed out sheets showing the parts of the rifles, shotguns, bows, and arrows for them to look at. This will help them in identifying the parts moving forward.

After cleaning and maintaining the equipment we played a game. Divided into 2 teams and then had them match tracks to the animal it belonged to. First time through they each chose a track and tried to match to the animal. After they got through all the tracks the answers were checked with the incorrect ones being removed. Second time around they worked together as a team and both teams got all them right on the teams 1st try. Great job to the kids.

Meeting was held and the Wild Game Feed was discussed. We are in the process of locating meat for the event. I am still looking so if you have anything you would be willing to donate please let me know. We need lots of fish if anyone has fish they would like to donate.

We have decided the Fun City trip will be planned for sometime between January and March. We know this is a busy time for everyone with school events and the play going on. End of March might be a better time as a renewal from the Wild Game Feed and all the busy times.

After the meeting Jennifer Plowman brought her European Deer Mount for show and tell. She explained the process she used to from start to finish on the skull. It was very interesting. The kids seemed to be really interested in how she explained it. Thank you Jennifer for bringing your knowledge to the 4H meeting and providing their wildlife skill for the day.

Meeting was adjourned at 4pm with the next meeting being on February 1 at 2pm. I will work on another game for the upcoming meeting.

Thank you to all the 4H Shooting Sports members that came and helped out at the Festival of Trees Saturday. Shooting Sports really stepped up and I appreciate it. This time of year is so busy for everyone but the ones that were available made it happen. Thank you again for all that you did. Special thank you to the parents for getting the kids there.
