❤️🖤Let’s go Dr Rodriguez!!🖤❤️
Feature Friday | Dr. Marcos Rodriguez ❤️🤘🖤
Ask Bloomingdale Senior High School Principal Dr. Marcos Rodriguez what he's known for, and his answer comes down to one word: visibility.
"I try my hardest to connect with as many stakeholders as possible," he told us. "The more I am able to engage with our students, staff, and community, the more I learn about their interests, priorities, and goals."
At a school of more than 2,000 students, that's a big commitment. And it doesn't stop when the bell rings.
He's coached baseball in our community for 20 years and currently coaches a travel team. A former Hillsborough County band director who earned a full ride to USF for Music Performance, he's also the Florida College Wind Ensemble's on-call bass clarinet player. Yes, that's a real thing. And yes, we're impressed.
Before being named Bloomingdale's principal in 2020, he served as Assistant Principal at Lennard, Sickles, Bloomingdale and Chamberlain. He's quick to share the credit with the people beside him, calling Bloomingdale's teachers and staff "some of the hardest-working and most dedicated educators in the state."
What keeps him going? "Knowing that the work we do each day can make a meaningful and lasting difference for our students, their families, and our community."
Seven years in, and he's still using exclamation points about it: "I love my job!"
Dr. Rodriguez, thank you for showing up for our students and our community. You're one of the reasons we love where we live.
