Adams Key Villareal Family History

Yesterday I came across a distant family member on ancestry that had uploaded a book called The Book of Blood. It is interesting because it documented the deaths of the Cuban people that were killed by the Spanish during the war for independence for Cuba during 1869-1871. The book was matter of fact, written in the early 1900's. What was interesting is that the common ancestor listed that had been killed was Quintillo Villareal, which is probably why I hadn't been able to locate his date and place of death. Hopefully with a little more research I can prove he is the same Villareal as ours.

IN THE MATTER OF THE ESTATE OF LUIS VILLAREAL, DECEASED
Petitioner: Antonio Villareal/ Attorney: W. H. Malone/ Judge Hugh Gunn Judge Gunn decreed that Luis Villareal, deceased, late of Monroe County Florida died on December 16, 1925 and owed no debts. It was decreed that he left surviving, as "his sole heirs at law," Antonio Villareal, Florencia Villareal, Isabel Villareal, Carida Villareal, Hortensia H. Villareal, and Ana Maria Villareal, his sons and daughters. They were "entitled to one undivided sixth interest in any property, real or personal, which the said Luis Villareal may have been seized or possessed at the time of his death." The decree was entered into court December 6, 1927.
NOTES: *Edward Villareal was petitioning for one fifth of the estate for each sibling, but was granted one sixth. Whether this was an error on the part of the judge or a typo because he counted their deceased mother, is undetermined. But only the six of them were mentioned in the record. -In all the petitions, it was written that since the time of these deaths, it was "ascertained that he is remotely the heir to certain properties in the Republic of Cuba, the class and description of which is unknown to your petitioner." -These petitions followed on the heels of the death of Jose Rafael Villareal, born 1837 and died September 23, 1927. All of the documents were submitted December 6, 1927

Denise Villareal shared with me this information she rec'd from Rita who is also researching the Villareal line.
Antonio Maria Villareal owned property in Holquin in 1860. Antonio bought the property from Don Francisoco Tamayo. The property was left at the death of his father, Don Francisco Tamayo y Zaldivar. The father, Francisco Tamayo, bought the property from Don Jose Ricardo. This property was exchanged for property owned by Don Vincente Tamayo and Don Urbano Ochoa. The exchange took place on January 16, 1860. A joining property owner and neighbor was Ramon Sanchez y Tamayo. At that time, Ochoa had two minor children named Rafaela and Antonio Ochoa y Gongora. The children's curator ad-litem was Don Slavador De Fuentes y Aguilera. The property census of 1893 from Holguin reflects that Julia was a widow and owned the property at the time of the 1893 Census. It gives exact location of property. At some point, a civil hospital/asylum was built on the property. Antonio Maria Villarreal called the property, "El V***r."

And Martha & Nathan Key would of celebrated their 214th Wedding Anniversary on January 23rd.

Yesterday i spoke to Abuela Lilia's cousin Viola Ferrera. come to find out she went to school with my Tio Orlando, my dad's brother. What a small World indeed.
