Finally some sun shine for the Fall Ball season!

It was great to see everyone back out at the fields.

We have 42 Valparaiso Americans teams this fall, 460 active players rostered, and we hosted 23 games at the facility yesterday!

Simmons Landscaping & Supply pulled off a successful rehab on Field 1 (Juniors) this summer. The infield skin was previously to large and reduced by roughly 10 feet with the infield grass and foul territories stripped, releveled, and newly sodded.

We eliminated the clay mound and installed a portable turf mound to allow flexibility to the field and to have games played at 50/70 (Majors/11U/12U), 54/80 (13U), and 60.5/90 (14U+).

What a long month! From scorching hot temps at install, losing water access for nearly 2 weeks from a lightning strike, trucking water in to keep the sod alive multiple times, and then the storm that refused to end last week delayed our start for a week. We will see the first majors game played tonight on the field!

Many people have reached out to see if we needed help getting the complex cleaned up and baseball resumed, thank you to those that did. Overall we were fortunate the damage to the fields was minor and has been fixed.

This is a way to help our community recover further if anyone is able to assist.

Finally some sunshine!

We are on track to resume Fall Ball games tomorrow night on all fields as regularly scheduled!

The day (really nearly a week) off the infields allowed for some time to get the Majors infield grass lines edged straight and clean for the season.

We have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2026 Fall Ball Opening Day scheduled for Saturday, Aug 15.

The ground is to wet at this time and additional rain is forecasted for Saturday.

We will look to resume with the normally scheduled games on Monday and next week. Teams may be allowed to practice on Sunday, coaches will message teams individually if we reopen before Monday.

Thank you for your understanding as we continue to navigate the impacts of this weeks historical weather events.

We will keep the complex closed thru Friday, all scrimmages and practices are cancelled to allow it to dry and the surrounding area to continue to recover.

The target as of Thursday is to resume Fall Ball with opening day on Saturday as scheduled.

1st Cal Ripken World Series win!

Next up today, Valparaiso vs Hawaii Kai (2025 10U World Series Champion) - Crown Point Sports Complex @ 12pm. FREE Admission.

11U Cal Ripken World Series resumes this morning at 8am, having shifted to the Crown Point Sports Plex. Valparaiso takes on Curaçao in the first game of bracket play.

Continuous storms, downed trees, no power… and now a fog game!
