The Folds of Honor Foundation funds educational scholarships for children whose military parent has been killed or disabled in the line of duty. Nationally there are over 172,000 family members that are affected across the county and more than 85% do not qualify for any type of federal educational funding today. Patriot Golf Day was created specifically to raise fund for the Foundation. Friends of Folds of Honor Northwest Indiana, has held extremely successful activities over the past two years at The Course at Aberdeen – placing in the top 25 events in the nation amongst over 4,500 participating golf facilities. Local Patriot Golf Day activities for 2013 have been expanded to include an evening of patriotic music performed by the nationally renowned Joliet Illinois American Legion Band Saturday, August 31st. This tribute concert, “Salute to Our Heroes” will be held at the Porter Health Amphitheater at Central Park Plaza in downtown Valparaiso. Concert goers will have an opportunity to picnic in the park with dinner and refreshments available onsite. This year’s Patriot Golf Day event will be held at The Course at Aberdeen on Sunday, September 1st, with tee times available at both 7:30 AM and 1 PM. Post golf activities for friends and families as well as golfers on September 1st include a picnic dinner sponsored, in part, by Suzie’s Café & Catering. Cost of the picnic is included in golfers’ with a $10 charge for adults and $5 for children wishing to just participate in the post golfing picnic. Corporate and individual sponsorships are available. Donations of raffle/auction items, gift certificate from your establishment or any type of sports or golf related items are also appreciated. Any support you or your business can provide to aid us in our efforts to assist this invaluable cause is greatly appreciated.
