⚠️ Storm sirens are one of the most misunderstood weather warning tools. They are designed to alert people who are outdoors that dangerous weather is approaching and to seek shelter immediately. Once indoors, the next step is to get additional information from reliable sources such as weather apps, NOAA Weather Radio, or local media. Remember, sirens are activated by local officials & not the National Weather Service. Also note that the threat may still be ongoing even after the sirens stop sounding. Always wait for the warning to expire or for officials to give the all-clear before resuming normal activities.
