NW Indiana Rusty Strings

NW Indiana Rusty Strings Northwest Indiana Rusty Strings is a non-auditioned community string orchestra that meets on various week nights in Oct/Nov, Jan/Feb, Apr/May, and July/Aug.

(See season schedule pinned to the top of the feed for the complete schedule) Rehearsals are at Pines Village Retirement Community in Valparaiso, IN from 7pm-8:30 p.m. CST. There is a $40 per member fee for each 2-month session which includes 8 rehearsals and 2 concerts. The orchestra was formed in 2018 by former music educator Tom Schnabel to provide a relaxed performance environment for musician

s who may once have performed in their high school or college orchestras and desire to continue playing in an ensemble after graduation. Rusty Strings' overriding goal is to create a supportive musical outlet for musicians eighteen years of age and beyond. The group is conducted by Carrie Ann Carlson

Hi, Facebook family!

What an amazing concert we just experienced with our NWI Rusty Strings Community Orchestra! We did indeed "Dance the Night Away!"

Now it is time to begin organizing personnel for the next concert session: Westward Ho!

Rehearsals begin Tuesday, April 28th and our concerts (2) are on Saturday, May 30th. Clearly, I would love to see everyone involved, especially my former Portage HS orchestra family and our NWI area high school and college orchestra graduates! Time to dive in if you have been holding back. What are you waiting for? You are all invited to give us a try! No obligation if it doesn't feel right for you.

We have a great selection of music for both the upcoming "Westward Ho" concert and our summer concert, "Give My Regards to Broadway." I have attached the playlists for both concerts so you can begin listening to the music and see if it is something you might enjoy.

Music is being marked for the Westward Ho! program and music for the summer program has already arrived! Our goal for music distribution for the Westward Ho! program is Tuesday, April 7th. Check out the rehearsal schedule which is attached below. We will send your scanned parts when you have verified participation. You can respond by Facebook Messenger and I will get you set up.

There is a $40.00 participation fee for this session which includes seven rehearsals and two concerts. All you will need to do then is show up with your instrument, a music stand and download/print off your scanned music. I can help you choose which part to download if you play violin.
