Our hearts are heavy for the students, families, friends, and everyone impacted by the recent tragedy in our hometown.

No parent should have to receive that phone call. No student should have to live in fear. And no community should become numb to the pain of losing our youth to violence.

This is exactly why Michigan City Midnight Hoops was created. Our mission has always been bigger than basketball. The game simply gives us a way to connect, mentor, guide, and create a safe space for young people who need support, direction, and community.

We believe our youth deserve:
• Safe environments
• Positive mentors
• Opportunities to be heard
• Resources that create real change
• Hope for a better future

In moments like this, we’re reminded why this work matters so much. We want to continue finding new ways to reach the youth, open difficult conversations, provide resources, and become part of the solution surrounding gun violence and the challenges our young people face every day.

To the families affected, please know this community is grieving with you, praying for you, and standing beside you.

Please keep the students, staff, and families in your prayers during this heartbreaking time. And as a community, let’s continue showing up for our youth — not only after tragedy strikes, but every single day! 💙

Join the city as we come together in peace, unity, and support for our youth and community. Let’s stand together to spread awareness, stop the violence, and show our young people that they are loved, valued, and never alone. 💙

*Michigan City Midnight Hoops is not the organizer of this event, but we thank you for putting this together and we support you!💙*”

In light of the recent tragedy that has deeply impacted our youth and community, Diamonds & Pearls Youth Mentorship Program will be offering professional mental health support services for young people affected by the deadly shooting.

Our hearts are with every child, teen, and family navigating grief, fear, confusion, and trauma during this difficult time. No young person should have to process pain alone.

Services and support may include:
• One-on-one support sessions
• Grief and trauma counseling referrals
• Safe spaces for youth to talk and heal
• Mentorship and emotional wellness support
• Group discussions and coping resources

Healing begins with community, compassion, and conversation. We are committed to creating a safe and supportive environment where our youth feel seen, heard, and loved.

If your child or someone you know could benefit from support, please contact us for more information.

“Helping our youth heal, grow, and overcome — together.” 🩷 girls and boys!

There’s so much that happens here that will never make it to the cameras, just know lives are being impacted and real change is happening.

We experienced something called the Confidence Circle, and my heart was full watching the girls uplift, affirm, and support one another so effortlessly.

This is bigger than what you see. Staying in our lane, obeying the voice of God.

Don’t listen to them, come see for yourself!. 🩷
