Last week, Mr. Ben Freeman, the Development Director, with the East Alabama Community Foundation spoke to the club about the purpose of the foundation: to support local initiatives, provide grants, and support community programs that address the unique needs of East Alabama. The EACF serves Chambers, Lee, Russell, and Tallapoosa counties. This non public foundation helps donors with their philanthropy giving, scholarships, and endowments. They provide grants that non profit oraganizations can apply for. The EACF’s advisory board determines the best investment for these community dollars. Donors make a contribution to EACF. The donations are pulled and invested. Money is then distributed to support charitable organizations.

Those who sign up for membership with DPC enjoy convenient services that save time and many times remove the middle man (insurance companies) to create a seamless and quick experience. Those who choose not to become members also can work with DPC to schedule appointments when available and still enjoy many services they provide. DPC provides routine health maintenance, screenings, blood pressure and cholesterol control, lab work (routine and specialty), DOT physicals, school physicals, IV hydration, cryo techniques, and many more services. DPC works well with local medical locations and area specialists regarding referrals. For more information on what Valley Direct Primary Care can provide you, call their office 334-756-0018. Happy New Year to all of our businesses in the Valley area! What a great way to get more involved in the community than to become part of the Valley Kiwanis Club! Kiwanis has a corporate membership that your business can take part in! See the great benefits below:

How It Works:
Your corporation will be registered with Kiwanis International as a
member of your local Kiwanis club.
A corporate representative of your choosing is designated as the
Kiwanis club member. He or she attends meetings, fundraisers and
service project and is eligible to hold board or officer positions, and
to act as the club delegate at conventions. If the corporate member
can’t attend a meeting or event, another member of your organization can attend in that person’s place. The replacement will not, however, be considered an actual club member unless they join.

Benefits:
• You become an advocate for your company, representing
its point of view in decisions affecting your community. For instance, if your company is already involved with a community
project, you will have a chance to encourage your club to join
the company’s efforts. Kiwanians often provide man-power or
help fund existing community projects.

• You help your company demonstrate corporate social responsibility in your community. Consumers today are conscious of where they spend their money and prefer doing
business with companies that give back to society.

• Your company develops an affiliation with a well-respected
service organization. Kiwanians are known and respected
around the globe for their generosity and ability to bring
people and community partners together for the good of all.

What better way for the citizens of the area to know that your business has the community in mind! If your business is interested, please reach out here or you can message Fran Groover on Facebook!
