The Valley Historical Society is currently beginning to reimagine/redesign/remodel our current museum. Because of this, our museum does not plan on being open this summer. However, we are still going to participate in VALLEY DAYS with our annual ice cream social on August 8. Hope to see you there. In the meantime, thank you for your support in the past and bear with us as we make our improvements for preserving Valley's history.

Stanley "Stan" Walker, 90, passed away peacefully at home in Valley, Nebraska on February 17, 2026. Stan owned and operated Stan and Sons Garbage Service for over 55 years. He worked hard every day and took pride in what he did. Along the way, he built real friendships with the people on his route. many knew him simply as "Stan, the Garbage Man", and they meant it with respect and affection.

He had a strong work ethic and worked seven days a week for much of his life. he could be stubborn and set in his ways, but the people closest to him knew his softer side. He cared deeply about his loved ones and showed it in quiet ways.

Stan enjoyed the simple things - his corn-cob pipe, old westerns on TV, and telling stories from the past. He loved living on his acreage and caring for the many animals he had over the years, especially his pugs.

Stan was loyal to the people he cared about. He will be greatly missed, but the memories he gave us will stay with us always.
