The Southern California Chapter of the American Liszt Society (ALS) was created in 2016 by APU's Eugene Alcalay and CSUN's Dmitry Rachmanov. The Chapter is dedicated to fostering an awareness and love of Franz Liszt's work, spirit and mission throughout Southern California, including the greater Los Angeles and San Diego metropolitan areas. We have featured ALS artists in guest recitals and master classes, as well as master class and recital performances of past Los Angeles International Liszt Competition Winners. We will present a one-day mini festival at APU on November 18, 2017, featuring student recitals, a lecture by Dr. Rachmanov, a recital by Dr. Alcalay, and master classes by John Perry and Dr. Sarkis Baltaian.
