Sweet Leo and LEXI (doink)

Clares House loves you and thankful for the supporting Whispering Willows Senior Dog Sanctuary, Inc. Amazing group!

Leo has become one of those little dogs who just wants to be close to people.

He loves being inside with anyone thats around, especially when he can climb onto the back of the couch and settle into one of the pillows like it’s his own little perch. He’ll spend so much of the day there, sleeping, watching everyone move around the house. He really loves to melt into the warmth of the heating pad for an extra cozy snooze.

He’s a pretty easy little guy. Leo doesn’t need much to be happy. He likes a calm spot, a warm place to rest, and someone close enough that he knows he’s not alone.

When he’s not relaxing, he’s usually following someone around the house. He doesn’t really care who it is. Leo just likes being with people, and quietly chooses to follow along.

He and Doink still love each other and still sleep together in their suite at night, but during the day they’ve both become a little more independent. They’ll wander around together outside for a bit, then go off and do their own things until it’s time to end up back together later.

Leo is also doing better with his eating and regurgitation. He does still have some issues with regurgitation and vomiting due to his esophagus, but is significantly better than when he first arrived.

His routine has helped a lot. He gets his Hill’s z/d prescription food hand fed to him in tiny meatballs, with his head kept raised the whole time he eats so the food has a better chance of staying down.

It takes extra time and care, but it has made such a difference for him.

Sweet Leo is finding sanctuary life to be pretty enjoyable, and we think that’s pretty great for our little old man.💙

TODAY!!! Remember, me...Lucy? I'm a Clare's House pup staying with an amazing volunteer foster family. My little foster sisters love me so very much. They're only 9 and 13 and yet they are so thoughtful and generous. They're setting up a lemonade and art stand today in Fenton. They also made these great dog treats to sell. And they are donating half back to Clare's House. 🐾 That is special. So, if you find yourself in the area, stop by and say hi. Woof!
