After a lot of contemplation, prayer, and exploration, I have decided to take a small team to Belize August 12 - 17. This will partially be a vision trip and an opportunity to reconnect with the people we have worked with. Also school will begin on August 16, so will take some school supplies, but due to travel circumstances, we will purchase school supplies there. Likely will take things harder to get there or that are much more expensive. More info on that later. I am thinking 6 - 8 people. If you are interested, let me know. Off the top of my head, maybe 900 dollars plus meals, can’t be certain till I know how many are going and male-female breakdown. This will be a planning trip for a larger team trip in January, so keep that in mind.

Thank you to everyone who supports our ministry and everyone who helped with our workday yesterday. We were able to separate a lot of items and put together 80 homeless bags, 120 bags to distribute door to door, and materials to make 100 more if we need them. Please pray for us as our six member team will travel and work from December 14-19. Thank you for your support.

Now is the time to start thinking about our scholarship program for the next school year. We are presently sponsoring 17 students in Dangriga to help them attend high school, 14 directly through the Gulisi school and 3 others we have met through ministry. We like to add 4-6 students each year. The cost per student is $250, 200 goes toward tuition and 50 toward supplies. We are praying that these students lives will be changed by having to opportunity to continue their education. Next school year we hope to see the first graduates come from our program. You can sponsor one or more students completely, or give any amount designated to the scholarship fund. This is a great opportunity to give to someone who can not give back to you. I would like to have collected the money by February 1. If you would like more information, you can message me, email; [email protected], or text; (601) 508-1890. You can mail checks made out to Lighthouse Missions to P O Box 7, Valley Park, MS 39177

I was in a Thanksgiving mood today, thinking about how many opportunities God gives me to do things I would have not thought possible. I am going to make some posts to update you on what is going on and some future possibilities. We were able to provide a Thanksgiving meal, a little untraditional, but well received; to the discipleship group we work with in the prison. Likewise, we are going to be able to have a Christmas fellowship, hopefully with homemade candy, cookies, and gifts. I realize most people can not go into the prison, but by giving you an opportunity to support those who can, maybe one day Jesus will say to you, "I was in prison and you came to me." We also provide clothes, hygiene items, Bibles, books, and other items to men who go through their pre-release program and are released. I was granted permission to share a few pictures from Monday's meeting. Thank you for your support.

Wilmington, Delaware Trip

We are going to make our postponed trip to Wilmington, Delaware to work with Andy and Aileen Rodriguez July 13-19. Primary work days on the trip will be Wed - Friday. Travel arrangements will be flexible. I will be taking a trailer so there will be ground travel, but you could chose to fly into Philadelphia and we could arrange to pick you up and return you to the airport. Within social distancing guidelines, we hope to do some canvassing, homeless ministry, and distribute household items and clothing. Obviously we will not be able to do some of those things as we originally planned, but we will have a great opportunity to prayer walk the community where Andy and Aileen have planted themselves to draw the church that God has in that place. Some of the specific details will depend on how many people want to go and how they want to travel. Also if you cannot go but would like to donate to support this effort, you can contact me. If you are interested in more information, you can contact me via facebook, email at [email protected], or text/call (601)508-1890.

We are in the process of moving our Summer Belize trip to the fall. Unfortunately that eliminates are large number of those who were signed up for the summer. So we need to add some new participants. We are looking at October 7-15, nine days from a Wednesday through Thursday. Week could look like: arrive and settle in on Wednesday, Thursday afternoon - Friday morning community outreach. Friday after school, kick-off event at the playground. All day Saturday at Gulisi. Worship and possibly meet with Scholarship recipients on Sunday. Monday and Tuesday after school at the beach pavilion. Construction throughout the week and possibly some more community outreach on Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday to recoup and prepare for return on Thursday. Cost should still be $1500. Pray that this can become reality and contact me if you would like more information.

Just an update on our prison project. I dropped off two suitcases for a couple of inmates that are being released this month. I am not at liberty to release their names but pray for them as they have another opportunity to join society. We are able to minister to the men in the pre release program and part of that is being allowed to gift them with a care package. Please pray that they each receive their gift and understand it as an expression of God’s love. Thank you to those who support our ministry.

UPDATE

As of today we have 17 people confirmed for our Belize trip this summer. We could add others but are not really recruiting. If you would like to go you need to contact me now. Plane tickets have went up and I would have to add to the hotel reservation. What we do need are people to go with us to Wilmington, Delaware to work with Andy Rodriquez. We are planning to go from Monday, April 13 - Sunday, April 19. The plan is to leave early Monday morning and drive within four hours. We will arrive Tuesday around noon and work till Saturday around four. Drive four hours Saturday evening and finish the drive home on Sunday. We will do some canvassing and a couple of community outreach events. We will participate in a couple of planned events on Friday night and Saturday. You could also shorten the trip by flying or traveling yourself. If you would be interested in going or like more information, please call or message me, Adrian Fairchild, at (601) 508-1890 or [email protected].

Belize Summer 2020

Ok, we are now reaching some deadlines. Us procrastinators are excellent at being fluid, but somethings have to be taken care of. If I need more than 15 airline tickets, plus one from Philadelphia, I could save money by doing it now. Also transportation and lodging need to be nailed down this month. I have had fourteen commit, though not all of you have sent me a form. We could easily add a few more. We will be leaving New Orleans on Monday, July 13 at 8:25 a.m. and return to New Orleans on Wednesday, July 22 at 8:45 p.m. That is nine nights in Belize for a inclusive cost of $1500. We do a mixture of community service and VBS. You can check out where we stay by looking up the All Seasons Guest House in Hopkins Belize. You can also check one of our primary ministry sites by looking up the Gulisi Primary School in Dangriga, Belize. This will be our sixth year to work in Dangriga. If you are on the going list, I need your registration form. If you are still pondering, I would like to hear from you. If you have an interest, or know someone who might, please contact me. Lighthouse Missions mailing address is P O Box 7, Valley Park, MS 39177. You can email me at [email protected] or call at (601) 508-1890. I am planning a team meeting on Saturday, March 28, time TBD. We are a scattered group so we will have to work to get together.
