We are so proud of Aurora!

Aurora, Meadowlark District, is our State 4-H Award Recipient in the Shooting Sports Project.
In her own words: Over the last seven years, 4-H shooting sports has helped shape who I am. Through this project, I have grown as a competitor, leader, and role model. Through participating in multiple disciplines at the county, regional, state, and national levels, I developed strong marksmanship skills, discipline, and a deep respect for firearm safety. This project resonated with me because it challenged me to stay focused under pressure, set meaningful goals, and continually work to improve both mentally and physically. As I gained experience, I took on leadership roles by becoming a certified youth apprentice rifle instructor and mentoring younger members. I also learned the importance of service by helping with range setup, fundraising, community outreach, and public presentations. Balancing multiple disciplines, school activities, and leadership responsibilities taught me time management and perseverance. Overall, Shooting Sports has shaped my character, strengthened my confidence, and inspired me to continue giving back to the 4-H program that has given me so much.

Carina, Meadowlark District, is our State 4-H Award Recipient in the Poultry Project. 🐣🐔
In her own words: 4-H has been an important part of my life since I was a Cloverbud. What started with a few feed store laying hens has grown into a flock of show quality bantams and waterfowl that I am so proud of. From my Naked Necks and Rhode Island Red Bantams to my ducks and African geese, I love the incredible variety that the poultry project brings! Beyond the birds themselves, raising and showing poultry has introduced me to a wonderful community of people who share the same passion — friendships and connections that extend far beyond the show barn. And one of my greatest joys now is sharing that love with the next generation of young people who will one day fall in love with these remarkable birds just as I did.

Hats off to Jeff van Petten for spending his morning at the fair yesterday morning. Making sure our animals are healthy before coming to the fair is an important piece of owning livestock.

This local vet sure made a difference for all the 4-Hers today! Thx Jeff for coming.

Fair Update (first of many this week, we’re sure): Members bringing STEM and Natural Resource exhibits (Rocketry, Woodworking, Forestry, BBE, etc.) should report to the Main Fair Building, north end, for judging. You must enter the west doors. The committee has found a way to fit the space and eliminate extra transport of items!

Royalty is a time honored treasure of the Jefferson County 4-H program.

It is a bond shared between the four members holding the titles each year. It is a bond connecting generations; a mom, aunt, grandpa or other relative who had the honor first and passed the torch down. It is an a-ha moment that says, “you CAN do it!”

Each year’s Royalty, designated for their confidence and presence when speaking, have an important job as the face of our program. You’ll see these members presenting awards at shows and promoting a positive experience at events.

Congratulations to
Mae McIntear, Billtown Go-Getters - Queen
Caliber Beecham, Prosperity - King
Sadie Kresie, Clover Power - Princess
Eli Heston, Fairview - Prince

There are several openings remaining for judging events tomorrow and Monday. If you benefit from the project, consider giving back to help events run smoothly.

Set Up Day:
Saturday marks an important day! Families converge on the Fairgrounds to make it a presentable space for exhibit displays. If a member of your family is bringing their project, you are encouraged to attend and volunteer. Upon arrival, report to the concession stand area to see where you can jump in to volunteer (and be sure to sign in to receive credit for your efforts.)

Thank you in advance for your participation in our fair and its events 🍀
