The Valley City Exploring Program is a year-round, hands-on opportunity for youth ages 14-20 to be immersed in and educated on careers in engineering and manufacturing by working and networking with local industry professionals.

Attention Engineering and Manufacturing Exploring Students!

Your last group event of the summer will be:
Thursday, August 8th, 2024 6pm – 8pm!

Pizza and drinks will be served!

We will be going over what we do at Northlake Steel Corporation, the cold finishing process, and what our bars are used for throughout the country. Students will also get the opportunity to measure bar tolerances with real tools of the trade as well as get an in-depth tour of the shop and breakdown of what each of our machines does.

Don’t forget to bring your passports! Students who attended all 4 summer events will receive their gift card.

Please remember to wear your closed toed shoes and long pants. Thanks!!

TWB (Tailor Welded Blanks) recently welcomed members of the Valley City Engineering & Manufacturing Exploring Post last week. Explorers enjoyed a tour of TWB and a presentation on robotics. They then had the opportunity to try hands-on demonstrations of manipulating robotics. The activity provided insight into the use of advanced solutions in design and production in the manufacturing process at TWB.

Students who attend all of the summer Valley City Engineering & Manufacturing Exploring Post events have their passport stamped and are entered into drawings for prizes, including Guardians tickets and other great prizes.

At Three D Metals, Inc., Explorers had the opportunity to take a plant tour and then performed the classic “egg drop” experiment. The Explorers used several everyday household items to make a protective structure for their raw egg to be dropped approximately 20 feet. Out of eight teams, only one egg didn’t make it. This activity served as an introduction to material selection and how Three D picks specific materials to ensure that customers get exactly what they need.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Engineering & Manufacturing Exploring Program Open House this past week.

Students had the opportunity to meet with leaders in manufacturing and engineering to hear about the new Exploring Program in Valley City.

Students toured Cleveland's Manufacturing Advocacy and Growth Network (MAGNET) this past week to gain an introduction to careers in the manufacturing sector. Thank you Medina County Economic Development Corporation for your help in organizing this great event.
