We use our funds raised to send Bekah Buddies to children newly diagnosed with cancer all over the United States, supplies for the Buddies, birthday/celebration greeting cards to kids all over the nation, we provide educational literature about Ovarian Cancer to the entire world, we send a pair of socks monthly to older teens and young adults fighting cancer, we assist local families with small home bills if funds are available, we provide local families gift cards for gas to travel for treatments (many are treated outside Wichita), grocery gift cards to help off set costs of a parent not working, gift cards to eat while their children are in-patient, and we provide gift cards to local families to help with medication copays for their children fighting cancer. Small organizations work closer with families to help with their everyday needs as they arise. Please consider us for your year end 2018 financial donation. As of today, November 1, 2015 Star Stables and Star Riders Therapeutic Riding cease to exist. We were unable to negotiate an equitable continuation of our lease and, as a result have been forced to relocate our horses to another boarding facility. I will continue to train and give lessons privately, but do so as a for profit individual proprietorship.

I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who contributed to the 5 years of successes we were able to provide. Many individuals gave selflessly of their time and resources without regard for what was in it for themselves and I remain deeply appreciative of that support.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of the remarkable mare Bucks Little Darlin. Melody, as she was known in the barn, produced 9 foals, all of which became either EWD or youth horses at some point in their lives and several remain active in SCSHA. Upon retirement as a broodmare she embarked on a second show career as a Youth/EWD horse herself, much of which is well documented here on the Star Riders page. Melody taught many youth and some adults to show and countless more to ride in her 26 years. She will be greatly missed by all who had the good fortune to know her.
