Robby Poblete Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to save and transform lives through its gun buyback, Art of Peace, and Work in Progress vocational programs.

Today was the second day of final exams for Brown University students. Instead of finishing the semester strong, thousands were forced to shelter in place while an active shooter stormed the building. Reports say at least two people were killed and eight others are in critical but stable condition.

Make no mistake: we DO NOT have to live and die this way. Our lawmakers fail us every day when they refuse to take action on gun violence.

Our hearts go out to the victims and their families, the survivors and the entire Brown University community.

Artist Spotlight, Jon Ton from Sonoma, Ca

Jon (pictured in the gray shirt to the right in the second photo) makes his career as a signcrafter, a muralist and creator of Ammosaics. Ammosaics (his original idea) can be created indoors while waiting for the weather to warm up/dry out enough to execute his outdoor mural and sign work -- the bread and butter artistry that pays the bills! Also in his toolbox are hand lettering with a brush, large scale layouts, billboard painting, gold leafing, sandblasting, woodcarving, welding, concrete casting, glass etching, and stone masonry.

This piece was showcased during our Art of Peace Opening Ceremony at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts back in 2019

𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 💪🚧

The Robby Poblete Foundation is working with local unions, workforce development agencies and county offices of education to help raise awareness about opportunities in skilled trades among high school students, young adults, and those in need of a second chance. RPF is currently providing apprenticeship scholarships for those who have been accepted to an apprenticeship but cannot cover the associated costs for work boots, tools, books and apprenticeship fees. RPF can also help cover transportation to apprenticeships for those who qualify.

Our Work in Progress Program works with local unions, workforce development agencies and county offices of education to help raise awareness about opportunities in skilled trades among high school students, young adults, and those in need of a second chance.🧡

High School🚧

RPF partners with the Napa Solano Building Trades on an annual Apprenticeship Bus Tour for high school students. You will see firsthand the various apprenticeship centers throughout the county and learn more about each trade – from carpentry, to sheet metal, to ironwork, and more.

Young Adult🚧

If you are between the ages of 18-24 and want to learn more about the opportunities in different trades, and what it takes to qualify for a paid apprenticeship we have options and opportunities for you.

Second Chance🚧

If you have been through the correctional system and are now looking for a second chance our Work in Progress program has opportunities for you

Did you know that Pati, Our Founder and Mother of Robby published a memoir titled “A Better Place: A Memoir of Peace in the Face of Tragedy” back in 2018 🧡

“She blames God, gun violence and the town where he was born and died, even herself. Two years later, she shares how Robby’s death was transformative for her and many others — including their family and friends, and even the first journalist on the scene.

The Bay Area native takes the reader on a raw, heartbreaking journey from the scene of the crime, to a Buddhist monastery in Northern California, to Asia where she travels for work, to Robby’s favorite beach in Hawaii to mark the first anniversary of his death — everywhere she goes trying to make sense of what has happened. Along the way, she offers glimpses into her and Robby’s lives, underscoring what makes his loss so tragic and why every loss such as his matters.”
