Please join us in welcoming Supervisor Erin Hannigan Andrews Wednesday, October 18th during our weekly Rotary meeting 5:30pm at The Courtyard Marriott 1000 Fairgrounds Dr. Vallejo. She has been a longtime friend of our club and many members and we are honored to have her as our esteemed guest speaker.

Supervisor Hannigan is retiring this spring. Come and ask your questions! For example, there are many questions about the new proposal to develop a new town in the county. There are still many questions about Route 37 . See her bio below and note all the areas of interest for your questions.

Solano County District 1 Supervisor Erin Hannigan brings her experience of balancing budgets, improving people’s quality of life and protecting the environment to the Board of Supervisors. Her love for Vallejo and all Solano County comes from being a lifelong resident of our beautiful County.

Erin’s public service career began when she served on the Vallejo Community Development Commission, distributing Community Development Block Grant funds to neighborhoods and organization in Vallejo. Erin was elected to the Vallejo City Council in 2017 and led Vallejo through tough economic times. She supported a balanced approach to the budget deficit, striving to provide necessary services. She was influential in creating a citywide communication strategy, which gave employees and the community transparency on the information facing Vallejo leaders.

Erin is proud of her work to improve the quality of life in Vallejo, including re-working commercial truck routes through the city, introducing the Chronic Nuisance Ordinance and supporting smoke-free city parks. She continues to champion the protection of our environment, improving the lives of the underserved and advocating for resources for seniors.

Erin has been focused as a County Supervisor on addressing the needs of families with young children. She has been instrumental in creating the First 5 Centers in both Vallejo and the new Center opening in Fairfield in 2024. The Vallejo Early Learning Center, also opening next year, will create 200 new child care openings, provide business expansion for child care providers and be a resource hub for the community.

Erin serves on many commissions and boards locally and regionally including State Route 37 Policy committee, on which she is the current Chair working with representatives from Napa, Sonoma and Marin Counties evaluating solutions to the long commutes faced by Solano residents. Along with serving on the Bay Area Air Quality Management District board, Erin serves on the Community, Equity Health and Justice committee addressing inequities in air quality in diverse neighborhoods. Locally, Erin serves on the Solano Economic Development Executive board, the County Legislative Committee and the Juvenile Justice Coordinating Council.

Erin has developed a strong relationship with the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation. This partnership has resulted in millions of dollars of new money to Solano that address basic needs.

Erin continued her initiative to create smoke-free spaces by introduction an ordinance. Erin for over eight years has met with residents on Fridays to walk the waterfront. Most participants are seniors and recipients of a pair of walking shoes that are provided through a partnership with Sutter Health and the Florence Douglas Center. More than 2,000 pairs of walking shoes have been provided to seniors.

Statewide, Erin serves on the California State Association of Counties Executive Board and has moderated three cohorts for the New Supervisor Institute. In this space, she has been a fierce advocate for State funding to replace the lost revenue that maintains First 5 programs in all 58 states.
