🌊⛵ 2026 Pacific Cup Update ⛵🌊
What an incredible achievement for Cal Poly Maritime Academy!
For the first time in school history, the team competed in the Pacific Cup aboard Oaxaca—a yacht generously donated through the Cal Maritime Academy's Yacht Donation Program. Thanks to the generosity of the donor, students had the opportunity to race across the Pacific and gain hands-on offshore sailing experience that simply can't be replicated in a classroom.
After 12 days, 27 minutes, and 54 seconds at sea, Oaxaca crossed the finish line in Hawaii, earning third place in its division!
Even more impressive, Oaxaca was the only boat in the race crewed by college student-athletes, competing against some of the world's top professional sailing teams.
Congratulations to the outstanding student crew:

⚓ Silvanus Watson
Also representing Cal Poly Maritime Academy were Head Sailing Coach Kerry Deaver, alumni Jacob Fisker-Anderson and Cyrus Khaleeli, with additional support from Rob Vandervort.
This accomplishment is a testament to the life-changing impact of yacht donations. Every donated vessel helps provide students with extraordinary educational opportunities and real-world maritime experiences that prepare them for future careers.
Congratulations to the entire team on this historic accomplishment! 🎉
