🐮 Update: Part 1

If you’ve been here awhile, then you’ll remember when Bo, Joe, and Roy came to live at our sanctuary. I was instantly blown away at how majestic they were and I fell in love!

Bo, the sweet boy in this video, was born with contracted tendons. This caused him to walk with a limp. For the most part, he didn’t seem to be in any pain and lived happily here at sanctuary. As time went on, I could tell that the hilly pasture and rougher terrain was starting to wear on him.

I brought them up to this paddock to see how he did on flatter ground. While this did make a huge difference on him physically, he spent most of his time mooing at his brothers through their shared fence. After all, they’ve been together their whole lives, and I hated the idea of separating them. Unfortunately, the flat paddock isn’t large enough for a long term solution for all 3.

I knew I had to make a change but I knew one thing for sure: the 3 amigos HAD to stay together. ♥️

Around the same time, someone in our sanctuary network shared about a kind lady who was looking to provide a home to a couple cows. I looked at photos of her property and immediately thought of Bo. It was large enough for 3, was flat and beautiful, and had a barn for shelter. I told myself I’d just chat with the owner and go from there.

After a long conversation, I knew she was the perfect soft landing. Not only does she truly care for her animals, she has a soft spot for the special ones. She’s rescued a tripod dog, a blind dog, and multiple elderly dogs. 🥹 She’d give Bo and his condition the love and respect needed.

I drove a few hours to her place the following week to do a home check. It was everything I ever could have asked for. I cried the whole way home.

Sunny Rose is truly a sanctuary for our rescues and it’s meant to be their forever home. I immediately bond with each animal and spend time letting them learn to love me back. Most of the time, it all fits. Sometimes, as much as I want it to be what’s best for them, it just isn’t.

As much as it broke my heart, I knew I had to do right by Bo and say goodbye to the 3 amigos. 💔

Part 2 coming soon.
