Returning to work shouldn't mean choosing between your career and your breastfeeding goals.

Workplace Lactation Week recognizes the importance of creating environments where parents have the time, space, and support they need to continue providing breast milk for their babies. From dedicated lactation spaces to supportive workplace policies, every step helps families succeed.

At The New York Milk Bank, we believe supporting breastfeeding families extends beyond healthcare—it includes employers, coworkers, and communities working together to help parents thrive.

If you're returning to work, it's important to know your rights. New York State law provides protections for employees who need to express breast milk in the workplace. Learn more about your Pump at Work rights here: https://dol.ny.gov/expressing-breast-milk-workplace.

For this Feel Good Friday, we're sharing a special message from a mom whose family's experience came full circle through milk donation. After seeing firsthand the benefits donor human milk can provide to babies in the NICU, Chelsea chose to give back by donating her own milk to help other infants and families.

Thank you for sharing your story with us and for turning your family's journey into an opportunity to nourish others.

Black Breastfeeding Week is a time to celebrate, uplift, and advocate for Black families while raising awareness of the barriers that continue to impact breastfeeding support and maternal and infant health.

This year's theme, "We All We Got: 15 Years of Community, Care, and Collective Power," honors fifteen years of grassroots leadership, community care, and the collective efforts that continue to improve outcomes for Black mothers, babies, and families.

At The New York Milk Bank, we recognize that community is one of the strongest forms of support. We're proud to celebrate the organizations, healthcare professionals, advocates, and families working to ensure every parent has the resources they need to thrive.
