The new TAKE IT DOWN Act is a major step forward for survivors of sexual assault, exploitation, and online abuse. This federal law strengthens protections against the nonconsensual sharing of intimate images (including AI-generated deepfakes and revenge p**n) and now requires covered online platforms to remove reported content within 48 hours!

For many survivors, digital victimization does not end when the abuse stops. The emotional trauma, fear, humiliation, and ongoing harm caused by the spread of intimate images online can be devastating. This law gives survivors more power, more protection, and a clearer path to reclaiming their privacy and dignity.

If you or someone you know has experienced sexual exploitation or image-based abuse, you are not alone. Help and support are available.

Join us now! From Silence to Justice: The Lies We Believe About Sexual Assault!

In this episode of Breaking the Silence: The Haven Real Talk, we move beyond the history of sexual assault response and confront the realities survivors face today.

Despite advancements in forensic science and victim-centered care, harmful myths continue to shape public perception, influence reporting, and impact how survivors are treated within our communities and systems.

Joined by forensic nurse Robyn Mosteiko, RN, SANE-A, SANE-P, we break down five of the most common misconceptions about sexual assault, including the belief that most assaults are committed by strangers, that victims must physically fight back, that lack of visible injury means no assault occurred, that delayed reporting undermines credibility, and that false reports are common.

Through professional insight and real-world experience, this episode challenges misinformation and provides a clearer understanding of how sexual assault actually occurs, how trauma affects survivors, and why these myths remain harmful.

This conversation is intended to educate, inform, and encourage a more accurate and compassionate response to survivors. We are here, and we believe you.

Georgia HB 1142 (2025-2026 session) proposes a "domestic violence offender registry" under the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, targeting repeat offenders. The bill, which passed the House, has just now passed in the Senate. 🎉🎉

Representative Leesa Hagan, The Refuge Executive Director Betty Dell, The Haven and Magnolia House Executive Director Michelle Girtman, and a domestic violence survivor spoke in favor for the bills passing tonight.

Thank you for working so hard to move this bill and congratulations!
