Thinking about rehabilitating your historic home? Great news for Georgia homeowners! 🏡✨

The State Income Tax Credit Program for Rehabilitated Historic Property—administered by the Georgia Historic Preservation Division (HPD)—offers a state income tax credit equal to 25% of qualifying rehabilitation expenses, capped at $100,000 for owner-occupied primary residences.

What’s New for 2026?
Thanks to legislation championed by The Georgia Trust and partners statewide, more historic homeowners than ever before are eligible.

👉 Homes located in LOCAL historic districts are now eligible—not just those listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
This is a major expansion that opens the door for communities across Georgia to take part in meaningful rehabilitation projects.

Visit HPD's website to learn more on eligibility and check out:
- Updated FAQ page
- Local Designation Confirmation Form
- New Part A Application Additions

📬 Applications are now being accepted for homes in locally designated historic districts, but keep in mind: Rehabilitation work cannot begin until January 1, 2026.

🔎 Please note: This expansion applies only to the state tax credit program and only to owner-occupied primary residences.
