The Sine Nomine Singers of Valdosta

Dr. David L. Johnson, conductor & Mrs. Susan B. Johnson, accompanist The Georgia State Board of Regents awarded him the title of Professor Emeritus that same year.

David Lee Johnson, after 23 years Director of Choral Activities at Valdosta State University, retired in June 2006 from full-time teaching. Dr. Johnson teaches private voice at VSU and continues as President of the VSU Music Scholarship Alliance. Although retired Dr. Johnson maintains a busy schedule with solo and choral performances. He is highly sought after as a vocal and choral adjudicator. He

will participate in five GMEA Choral Festivals in the Spring of 2008. During his tenure at Valdosta State Dr. Johnson served as Interim Head of the Department of Music in 2006. In January 2008 Dr. Johnson organized the Sine Nomine Singers of Valdosta. This choral ensemble is a semi-professional group of 21 singers from Valdosta and surrounding areas including Homerville,Nashville and Madison, FL. The singers were selected because of their musicianship, their vocal ability and their desire to achieve excellence in choral performance. Dr. Johnson continues as Director of Music at Trinity Presbyterian Church, a position he has occupied for 20 years. He directs the Chancel Choir, the Chancel Ringers and the Youth Choir.
