On April 17th, Hospice of South Georgia and American Legion Post 13 (Valdosta) had the honor to recognize the exceptional life and service of Mr. Willie Allen on his 99th birthday! During his service in the U.S. Navy, Mr. Allen contributed to one of the most significant events of modern history. Mr. Allen’s unwavering dedication to his duties during WWII provides a legacy of integrity that continues to ripple through American society to this day. As Tom Brokaw once wrote about our WWII veterans “they fought not for fame or recognition, but because it was the right thing to do.”

The greatest generation, of which Mr. Allen is a part, accomplished noble deeds such as defended our Nation against domination by the Axis Powers, stopped the attempted extermination of entire populations of people and brought the importance of human rights to the global stage.
On behalf of Hospice of South Georgia and American Legion Post 13, we thank you Mr. Allen and his family in their service to the values of the United States of America. You will not be forgotten!
