Canes, Tails & Trails is here and there is still time to join us.

Here’s what to know before you go:
Parking is first-come, first-served — arrive early. Enter through the east park entrance off Parker Road. Light breakfast and check-in start at 9:00 AM, trails at 10:30, and the Lions Club is grilling lunch at noon. Ruckus in the Alley plays after the walk.
Mostly flat, packed dirt and paved trails. Relaxed pace. All abilities welcome. Dogs on leash welcome.

After the walk, the party continues.
We are so excited to welcome to Canes, Tails & Trails on May 30. Jon Hood and Steve Anderson bring their signature jangly, acoustic sound to Cherry Creek State Park for a live set following the walk — think Tom Petty, Neil Young, REM, and The Killers played by two guys who genuinely love what they do.

Ruckus in the Alley has been playing together since 2016 out of Central Park Denver, and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate a morning of community, movement, and purpose than with live music under the trees.

Friends gathered in Vail learn more about Foresight’s transformative ski program and summer camps.

Guests at the cocktail party heard Barbara, one of Foresight’s adult blind skiers, talk about why skiing is such a powerful sport for individuals living with blindness and low vision and how Foresight makes it possible for people like her to access the ski slopes, safely.

Three of our amazing guides, Michel, Rich and Ana, shared personal stories and experiences with our VIPs (Visually Impaired Participants) from their guiding over the years.

Events like this are meant to spread the word in our community that Foresight is here to safely keep our friends and neighbors doing what they love, skiing, even after vision loss.

If you or someone you know used to be an avid skier but stopped because of vision loss, share Foresight with them!  We can get them back on the mountain again, enjoying the thrill of skiing.

Thank you Ana & Andres for helping plan this beautiful evening and to Andres for hosting.

“Miles was 9, brand new to skiing, physically capable and a hockey player, but not having it at first. He was uncomfortable, his boots hurt, and at one point he even said he hated it. Communication was tough, and we weren’t sure we were breaking through. But he kept listening. Kept trying. And with a few adjustments and more time on the magic carpet, the Vail instructor and I could sense that something was starting to shift.

By the afternoon, he was linking turns and progressing faster than any child I’d ever worked with.  He even started to speak with us and look us in the eye.  The instructor and I were questioning whether this was really Miles’s first time ever skiing!

His parents watched from the side of the ski slope, whooping and hollering at their son’s progress.

The next morning Miles showed up ready to go; positive, more confident and even a bit impatient to get out skiing.  What happened next was like nothing I’d ever seen in my 20+ years of guiding.  He progressed so quickly we moved him from the magic carpet to the beginner chairlift in a matter of hours.  Miles was even making parallel turns!  Had there been time, we would have taken him up on the mountain to more advanced beginner terrain.  We told Miles that would have to wait until next season.

A few days later I received this message from his mother.  “Hi Jon, I just wanted to say thank you again for making Miles’ first experience skiing so incredible.  He is hooked and can’t wait to go again.  You have truly changed his life and for that I am so grateful.”

This is why we guide.”
- Jon, a guide with Foresight since 2003.
