Solano County Farm Bureau

Solano County Farm Bureau The mission of the Solano County Farm Bureau is to promote and represent agriculture in Solano County for the benefit of our members and community.
(1)

Since 1915, Solano County Farm Bureau has been a service-based organization dedicated to advocating for and protecting the future of agriculture in Solano County, with the goal of improving the well-being and quality of life for our farmers and ranchers. We seek solutions to the problems of the farm, the farm home and the rural community by use of organized action. To that end, those engaged in the various branches of agriculture may have the opportunity for prosperity in their chosen work.

This tiny insect is creating a major concern for California agriculture.

The invasive glassy-winged sharpshooter (GWSS) spreads Pierce's Disease, a bacterial infection that can kill grapevines and severely impact vineyards, farms, and backyard gardens. Recent detections on plant shipments delivered to Solano County have prompted local agricultural officials to urge residents to stay vigilant.

What should you do?
✅ Inspect newly purchased grapevines, citrus trees, and other nursery plants.
✅ If you purchased grapevines or citrus plants from Costco since April 21, do not move, transport, compost, or dispose of them. Contact the Solano County Agriculture Department immediately for guidance.
✅ Report suspected sightings to your County Agricultural Commissioner's Office. Early detection is one of the best tools we have to protect California agriculture.

Learn more about the California Department of Food and Agriculture's Pierce's Disease and Glassy-Winged Sharpshooter Program:

Together, we can help protect Solano County agriculture, vineyards, and family farms.

The Solano County Fair returns June 11–14, offering students, teachers, and families a chance to experience agriculture up close through livestock exhibits, youth projects, and hands-on learning in action. From FFA and 4-H showcases to agricultural education displays, it’s a great way to see classroom concepts come to life beyond the school walls.

We encourage educators to take advantage of this local opportunity to connect students with agriculture, leadership, and STEM in a real-world setting.

Today, we pause to remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice made possible the freedoms we enjoy every day including the ability to gather, work, and build strong communities together.

This Memorial Day, we honor those we lost and hold their families in our thoughts. 🇺🇸
