Did that really just happen?

This morning 150+ runners, walkers, stroller pushers, and very colorful kids took on the 1st Annual Learn Your Colors Run at Will C. Wood High School. The field went from green to every color we could think of in about two hours, and everyone looked out for each other in the 100 degree heat. Nobody left the way they arrived.

Thank you to Vacaville Parks and Recreation for co-producing this with us, to Vacaville Unified School District and Will C. Wood High School for making the field available, and to the Key Clubs of Buckingham, Vacaville, Vanden, and Will C. Wood for running the stations in the heat. And to our staff team for pulling it all together.

And thank you to the sponsors who said yes to a first-year event: County Square Market and the Vacaville City Firefighters Charity Fund (Gold Sponsors) and Brandon Cherry- Real Estate Professional (Bronze Sponsor). Proceeds support the City of Vacaville Preschool Program and Kiwanis youth programs.

📸 Full photo album coming Tuesday.
🧼 Wash the shirt separately the first time
🗓️ Yes, we are already talking about next year

If you took photos, drop them in the comments or tag Kiwanis Club of Vacaville.

Hope to see you next year!

Who is behind the Learn Your Colors Run? Meet our Gold Sponsors.

A first-year event needs someone willing to say yes before there is a track record. Two Vacaville organizations said yes early, and their support covers the powder, shirts, and signage so registration dollars go further for the City of Vacaville Preschool Program and Kiwanis youth programs.

County Square Market is a locally owned neighborhood market that has been feeding Vacaville families for years. The Vacaville City Firefighters Charity Fund is run by the firefighters of Vacaville Fire to support local families, youth programs, and neighbors in need.

You will find both logos on the back of every participant shirt and on signage around the course. If you see them on October 3, tell them thanks.

🏅 Gold Sponsor: County Square Market
🏅 Gold Sponsor: Vacaville City Firefighters Charity Fund (vcfcf.org)

Who helps Vacaville families find a home and then helps them run through it in color?

A big thank you to Brandon Cherry, Realtor, for supporting the Learn Your Colors Run as a Bronze Sponsor. Brandon helps families move in, move up, and settle in around Vacaville, and now he is helping local kids get a colorful head start too.

What do firefighters do on their day off? Apparently, help kids run through clouds of color.

We are proud to welcome the Vacaville City Firefighters Charity Fund as a Gold Sponsor of the 1st Annual Learn Your Colors Run. The Charity Fund is run by the men and women of Vacaville Fire, and it exists to give back to the community they serve every day. Backing a family fun run that supports the City preschool program and our youth leaders in our high school is exactly their kind of project.

Their logo will be on the back of every participant shirt and on event signage. If you see a firefighter at the run, say hi. They might even be holding a squeeze bottle of powder.

Remember learning your colors in preschool? Ready to run through all of them?

The 1st Annual Learn Your Colors Run is 17 days away, and late bird registration has opened at 8:00 AM. The Kiwanis Club of Vacaville and Vacaville Parks and Recreation are teaming up for a family fun run on a loop course with six color stations along the way. Six colors, a fresh white shirt for every participant, and a finish line that looks like a rainbow exploded.

Pick the 1-mile loop for little legs and stroller crews, or the 5K if your family wants the full adventure. It is untimed. Walk it, jog it, dance it, we do not mind.
