Hey Shipmates,

I've finished the mounting bracket for the Ship's Wheel. It is now up and mounted in my garage until our next gathering where it will be passed on to another crew member.

Carl Bright will be painting the Ship's Logo on the centerpiece to make it look even better.

I mounted it on an Oak dowel that I had on hand that was just a bit too thick for the wheel. After some sanding to make it fit, I drilled a hole the right diameter and created a mortise and tenon joint that should hold the wheel solidly for the rest of time.

It even still spins!

Hey Shipmates! I have constructed a mounting bracket for the Ship's Bell.

It is made out of Douglas Fir, as that is the wood I had on hand and our Governor has our State sheltering at home. I created a mortise and tenon joint to make the bracket as strong as it could be to deal with the weight and leverage from the bell and someone yanking on the bell-rope.

I found the bell-rope on Ebay. Someone far more talented than I am with decorative rope work makes them and sells them.

Anyway, the bell is now mounted on the wall in my shop near the man-door.

Everyone remembers Saturday Night prior to Labor Day was always Hog Back Island spaghetti contest. Then we all sailed on the first high tide to get that push back home. Tomorrow we would sleep 23 hrs and start school on Tuesday. Some of the BEST days of our lives, and we only realize it now thinking about all of our Shipmates for life!
