🎉 UVALDE’S FIRST-EVER TOTAL TEEN TAKEOVER WAS A SUCCESS! 🎉
Good food, great music, lots of laughs, and most importantly TEENS JUST BEING TEENS! 🙌
Last night was exactly what we hoped for: a place where our teens could hang out, have fun, connect with friends, and know that The Club is a space for them too.
This was only the FIRST one, and we’re just getting started! 👀🔥 We’re listening to our teens and building this program around what THEY want to see, do, and experience.
Huge thank you to everyone who helped make tonight happen and to every teen who showed up and brought the energy!
Total Teen Takeover #1 is officially in the books! 💙

🚨 WE’RE GROWING , COME JOIN OUR TEAM! 🚨

Exciting things are happening at the Boys & Girls Club of Uvalde, and as our programs and membership continue to grow, we’re expanding our team!

We are currently seeking a Youth Development Professional who is dependable, energetic, positive, and passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people.

⭐ Experience working with children or teens is strongly preferred. We’re looking for someone who can connect with our members, lead activities, work well with a team, and most importantly, be a positive role model.

💰 Starting Pay: $12/hour
🕑 Hours: Monday–Thursday, 2–7 PM | Friday, 2–6 PM
📍 Boys & Girls Club of Uvalde — Flores Elementary, Building A, Gate 1

We are looking to add to our team as soon as possible as we continue growing and expanding our programs.

A MESSAGE TO OUR UVALDE COMMUNITY

As we monitor the possibility of significant rainfall and severe weather over the next several days, we want our community to know that the Uvalde Police Department is actively preparing.

We are communicating with our local emergency response partners, monitoring weather forecasts and changing conditions, and preparing our officers and staff so that we are ready to respond to any weather-related emergencies that may arise.

We know the possibility of heavy rainfall may cause understandable concern for many members of our community, particularly after what Uvalde experienced during our last flooding event. We want you to know we are taking the forecast seriously and using lessons from that experience to guide our preparations.

Your safety is our priority.

Our officers and emergency response partners are preparing now so that, if conditions worsen, we can respond quickly, communicate effectively, and be there when our community needs us.

We also encourage everyone to take some time now to prepare. Monitor trusted weather information, keep phones and essential devices charged, make sure you have necessary medications and supplies available, and avoid flooded roadways if heavy rainfall occurs.

There is no need for alarm, just an opportunity to be prepared.

We will continue monitoring conditions and will share important information with the community as it becomes available.

We are preparing. We are watching. And we will be here when you need us.

Community partnerships make a meaningful difference for our students and schools, and we are grateful to have organizations like the Boys & Girls Club of Uvalde cheering us on during our T-Mobile Friday Night 5G Lights journey.

🚧 D&E: DRIP & ESSENTIALS — UNDER CONSTRUCTION 🚧
During our recent teen survey, we asked young people what they wanted and what they needed. One of the answers that stuck with us was simple: clothes and hygiene essentials.
So, we're listening.
We’re working to create D&E: Drip & Essentials at Boys & Girls Club of Uvalde a free boutique where teens can choose clothing they actually WANT to wear, along with everyday hygiene essentials they may need.
And we're being intentional about the clothing we collect.
We are looking for new or excellent-condition, current-style clothing, including popular/name brands, shoes, hoodies, jeans, athletic wear and accessories.
Why name brands?
Because this isn't just about putting clothes on a hanger. It's about confidence, dignity and belonging. We want a young person to walk into school wearing something they picked out because they genuinely like it not something that makes them feel different because their family may be going through a difficult time.
No child should feel embarrassed by what they can or cannot afford.
Our goal is to create a space that feels like shopping at a real boutique not receiving charity. They'll have choices. They'll have privacy. And most importantly, they'll be treated with dignity.
D&E will also provide hygiene essentials that teens can access discreetly and without embarrassment.
We are just getting started, and we'll soon be sharing ways for our community, businesses and organizations to help us stock the racks and shelves.
Every kid deserves the opportunity to walk into school feeling fresh, confident and like they belong.

We asked. Our teens answered. Now it’s time to build. 💙
This week, the Boys & Girls Club of Uvalde visited Morales Junior High and Uvalde High School to hear directly from our teens about what THEY would like to see in a teen program.
We collected 101 surveys, and their voices gave us a pretty clear picture.
🍕 Food & snacks�🎮 Video games�🏋️ Weights & fitness�🛋️ A teen hangout/lounge�🏀 Sports�🎵 Music�🚌 Field trips�🎙️ Podcasting�🍳 Cooking�🎬 Movie nights
But we also heard things that go much deeper a safe space, school help, leadership opportunities, career and college preparation, and somewhere they can simply belong.
That's what really stood out to us.
We don't want to sit in a room and decide what teenagers need. We want them at the table helping us build it. These 101 voices will help shape what comes next for our teen program.
And as we begin putting these ideas into action, there's room at the table for our community too.
Maybe you own a business. Maybe your organization has resources or expertise to share. Maybe you can provide equipment, sponsor an activity, teach a skill, host an experience, or simply want to pour into the next generation of Uvalde.
It doesn't always have to be a check. Sometimes it's time, a connection, an opportunity, a piece of equipment, or someone willing to say, “How can I help?”
We're going to build with what we have but imagine what we can build when a community gets behind its kids.
Thank you to Morales Junior High and Uvalde High School for allowing us to listen, and especially to the 101 students who shared their voices with us.
