Condolences to the Illion Fd and the Mohawk Fd on the tragic loss of one of their own. Ashley attended several of our events over the years and was a dedicated member of the fire service. Rest easy Ashley!

Do you know a local first responder who went to 9/11 who would be open to sharing their story or being recognized this year at our event? We are looking to honor those who are local whom took part in those heroic actions of jumping to action when others were running from terror…. Drop us a line or send them this post and have them contact us. Email is good too: [email protected].

25 Years later... Our Promise: Never Forget! Have you forgotten?

This year will be the 25th Anniversary of a life changing event for the world! And here in Central New York, we want to make sure that memory hasn’t faded. We still remember the heroes who ran in when everyone else ran out!

Those from the New York City Fire Department (FDNY), the NYPD and the Port Authority Police Benevolent Association Inc gave the ultimate sacrifice and we should never forget that.

On Saturday, September 12, 2026, the CNY Stair Climb will host its 12th Annual Event where we will gather at the Utica State Office Building for one of the most significant climbs in our history.
This isn’t a race, it’s a living tribute with moments of silence throughout to honor those from that tragic day!

The Challenge: 110 stories—the same height as the Twin Towers.

The Mission: Each climber will carry the name and photo of a fallen hero, ensuring their journey is symbolically completed.

The Impact: Every step supports local charities while making sure to preserve the memory of the fallen.

Whether you are a first responder in full gear or a community member ready to honor a legacy, we need you on those stairs. A generation has grown up since 2001—let’s show them what it means to truly Never Forget.

Where: 207 Genesee St, Utica, NY (Utica State Office Building)
When: Saturday, Sept 12, 2026
Registration Opens June 1st: www.cnystairclimb.com

We climb because they climbed and never forget never expires!

Share and Tag someone who needs to be there with you and be sure to mark your calendars for this year's event!

We also have sponsorship opportunities should you be unable to climb and want to help us honor the fallen in another way.

Sad news folks. Many of you may recognize Mahlon as one of our legacy climbers who climbed u til he couldn’t. Quietly, putting one foot infront of the other and walking side by side with his pup - aerial. Rest easy sir!

It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Past Homer Fire Chief, NYS Fire Instructor assigned to Cortland County, and Cortland County Deputy Fire Coordinator, Mahlon Irish Jr.

Mahlon dedicated his life to the fire service and to the Cortland County community. Through his leadership, instruction, and unwavering commitment, he impacted generations of firefighters and helped strengthen the fire service throughout our county and beyond.

His service, mentorship, and devotion to protecting others will not be forgotten. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and the many members of the fire service who had the honor of working alongside him.

Rest in peace, Chief Irish. Your legacy will continue to live on through those you trained and led.

Thanks to all our climbers, volunteers, donors and sponsors for making this possible!

Thanks to all our climbers, volunteers, donors and sponsors for making this possible!

Tonight at our Holiday event Believe 271 Foundation was presented with a check from the CNY Stair Climb this past year. Since its inception the CNY Stair Climb has presented our Foundation with $55,000 to support our volunteer firefighters battling cancer and life threatening illnesses. We can’t thank Jeff and his team at CNY Stair Climb for all they have done to relieve the impact cancer has on our firefighters. True brotherhood!!!!
