Remembering 9/11 Through Service, Unity & Compassion
On this September 11th, the Muslim Community Association of Mohawk Valley (MCAMV/Utica Masjid) chose to honor the memory of those who lost their lives on 9/11, as well as the first responders, rescue workers, and others who later suffered or passed away from illnesses related to their service and sacrifice.
We believe one of the most meaningful ways to remember such a difficult day in our nation’s history is by coming together in compassion, unity, and service to others.
Alhamdulillah, members of our community came together to donate blankets, baby food, diapers, and baby formula to Evelyn’s House, a program of ICAN, helping support mothers, babies, and families in need in our greater Utica community.
We sincerely thank the dedicated team at Evelyn’s House and ICAN Integrated Community Alternatives Network (ICAN) for the important work they do every day. Their commitment to helping vulnerable families reflects the spirit of compassion and service that strengthens our entire community.
September 11 reminds us that despite differences in faith, ethnicity, or background, we are neighbors first. In moments of hardship, we stand together, care for one another, and work toward a more peaceful and compassionate future.
For us, remembrance is not only about looking back—it is also about choosing how we move forward. We remember through kindness. We honor through service. We strengthen our community through unity.
May the spirit of compassion, generosity, peace, and service continue to bring the people of the greater Utica area together.
