Mentor Iowa The mission of Mentor Iowa is to provide trained volunteer mentors for at-risk children who are in need of a positive adult role model.

So hard to believe the Iowa State Fair has been over for a week. Many thanks to The Bud Tent - Iowa State Fair for believing in Mentor Iowa for the 5th year in a row to provide all of the volunteer "beertenders" to help serve delicious beverages to all of the Bud Tent patrons.

So thankful for the Bud Tent management, staff and patrons for being so generous to Mentor Iowa! We are waiting to hear from a few more matching funds programs to announce our final total raised from this wonderful opportunity.

We also want to thank the 200 plus volunteers who stepped up for Mentor Iowa by being "beertenders" for this fundraiser. Several of them worked multiple shifts to support Mentor Iowa while having fun at the same time.

Special thanks to the "Maestro" Danielle Blaylock for helping our 21 shifts run smoothly while our volunteers were helping at The Bud Tent - Iowa State Fair. We truly appreciate her patience, guidance and support during each day of the fair and educating everyone on all of the ins and outs of being a great "beertender" for the Bud Tent! Attached to this post is a pic of Danielle and Mentor Iowa can't thank her enough for all of her help and support during the 11 days of the Iowa State Fair.

Mentor Iowa was honored to be a part of the Sammons Financial Group Companies Community Outreach Program Showcase this morning. Mentor Iowa was nominated by mentor, Matthew Bierl, to be a part of this showcase and we were selected as one of the twenty-five non-profits in attendance. Mentor Iowa was able to talk to many Sammons employees and 7 were interested receiving more information on how to become a mentor!!! On top of everything else, Mentor Iowa was able to receive a $7,000 grant award from Sammons to support our mission on a daily basis. THANK YOU so much to Matt and Sammons Financial Group Companies for their support and being a great example of giving back to the community!

Mentor Iowa had so much going on last Friday, August 21st. On top of our fundraiser with The Bud Tent - Iowa State Fair, Mentor Iowa also was the main charity of choice from the annual QuikTrip charity golf outing. We had such a fun day at Beaver Creek Golf Course last Friday and everything went perfect as usual. It is such an honor to be associated with QuikTrip and their employees run such a well organized golf outing! Many thanks to Team Mentor Iowa (Jaime Blue, Evan Powers, Scott Farrel, Marty Lester) for representing out on the golf course. They shot a respectable -7 had a lot of fun out on the course! Many thanks to our Mentor Iowa volunteers (Sue Hatling, Tim Hatling, Karen Hall, Angel Pierce, Traci Lendt) for helping with the course contests and being so generous with their time to help Mentor Iowa. We appreciate all of the sponsors, golfers and raffle donors who made this event a huge success. As a result, Mentor Iowa will receive $15,000 from this outing!!! THANK YOU again to QuikTrip for ALL that you do to support Mentor Iowa! Please support QuikTrip with all of your convenience needs as they are the perfect example of what it means to give back to your community!

Wow! The last three days/nights at The Bud Tent - Iowa State Fair were so busy that Mentor Iowa is finally catching up to having a social media post about how thankful we are for our "beertenders" who helped serve delicious beverages to all of the Bud Tent patrons. We apologize to our Friday and Sunday's crews as we were not able to take pictures of their smiling faces, but pictured are our Saturday first and second shift volunteers for Mentor Iowa. The Iowa State Fair had an attendance record on Saturday, and it was evident at the Bud Tent as the party never stopped ALL night long.

We will take a couple days off to recuperate from the fair and send out a fun follow up report on the numbers from our efforts with our Bud Tent fundraiser.

Wednesday at The Bud Tent - Iowa State Fair has been so much fun!! Our first shift of volunteers from Carrier Access, Inc. did an amazing job serving as Beertenders for Mentor Iowa! Each beverage was served with a big smile and the Bud Tent customers were so generous to them. Our second shift just enjoyed a concert at 6:30 an another is coming up at 9 pm! Come enjoy a tasty beverage, listen to live music and just enjoy this wonderful night! Mentor Iowa is so thankful to the Bud Tent, Bud Tent staff & customers, our volunteer Beertenders and champions who step up when we need them the most!

It is throwback kinda night here at The Bud Tent - Iowa State Fair as Salt-n-Peppa, En Vogue and TLC are on the main stage today. As you are getting ready to have some fun listening to some classic R & B, some enjoy some refreshing beverages served by some amazing Mentor Iowa “Beertenders” who are ready to serve you! Tonight is going to be so much fun at The Bud Tent - Iowa State Fair!! Our crew of Mentor Iowa “Beertenders” are so excited to serve you. 5 of our crew tonight are with the Contributors Breakfast Club/CBC Foundation and they have been longtime champions for Mentor Iowa! Wow!!! What a great first four days of our fundraiser at The Bud Tent - Iowa State Fair. A little rain never hurt no one and our volunteer "beertenders" have stepped up and represented Mentor Iowa so well. This is the only Monday of the Iowa State Fair, so be sure to spend it at The Bud Tent as our first shift of volunteers have big smiles on their faces ready to serve you some tasty beverages. If they do a good job, please feel free to leave a tip as they are donating ALL of their tips to Mentor Iowa!!!

This has been a huge undertaking and we have over 230 volunteers supporting Mentor Iowa through this major fundraiser for us.

Many thanks to the Bud Tent owners, admin team and staff for being so courteous and nice to all of our volunteers and staff. Also, a big thanks to ALL of the Bud Tent patrons who have been so kind to leave tips and ask questions to learn more about Mentor Iowa!

Come on out and say "hi" and support The Bud Tent at the same time as they are great definition of what it means to give back to the community.

The Bud Tent - Iowa State Fair at the Iowa State Fair is all ready for your Saturday night fun! Thanks to our first shift, all of the Bud Tent patrons had their glasses full of beverages. Our 2nd crew of Mentor Iowa Beertenders are all set to keep the fun going all night long! Come by and say “hi”, enjoy a refreshing beverage and feel free to leave a tip if you would like. All of the beertenders are donating their tips to Mentor Iowa! Thank you to everyone who has stopped by to support the Bud Tent! It is so great seeing all of the support to Mentor Iowa!!!
