Urban Harvest Urban Harvest is a community garden in Urbandale,Iowa commited to providing fresh produce for the local food pantry.

Friends in Urbandale and Windsor Heights, Iowa. We encourage you to go to the urbandalefoodpantry.org web site. Then go to the "voices" page which has first person stories of people who have been helped by the food pantry. Stories like this tell why we are passionate about being good neighbors through gardening at Urban Harvest. All of the produce grown in the Urban Harvest community garden goes

to the Urbandale Food Pantry at 7611 Douglas Avenue, Suite 34 in Urbandale which serves the people in the Urbandale and Windsor Heights communities by supplying them as much fresh produce as we can grow. Follow this fan page to know what we are doing on our typical Wednesday and Sunday evenings and come join us in support of the Urbandale Food Pantry.

Slow but sure the garden is getting ready. Because we use very few chemicals, using these commercial grade rolls of permeable fabric keeps the weeds down. We pull and roll the fabric every year so it takes a bit to find the right ones as we rotate crops

Our gardeners have started peppers tomatoes and a few other things

This summer, the Urbandale Food Pantry has seen an unprecedented number of new families needing support! In June, we welcomed 438 new families, followed by 371 in July, and already 111 in August with weeks still to go.

Each number represents neighbors facing tough choices and turning to us for help, many for the very first time. While the need is great, we are grateful to be able to respond. Hunger doesn’t take a summer break, and because of you, neither do we.

We just keep plugging away. 150-200 lbs of fresh produce to the food pantry every week !
