Did you know, research to learn more about SIDS is being done right here in Iowa?
The Department of Pathology at the University of Iowa is working on a study to better understand how parts of the brain that regulate breathing and heart rate may malfunction in infants and children who die suddenly and unexpectedly.
YOU can be a part of this research! The Dept. of Pathology at U of I is looking for families who have lost children to sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) or, in older children, Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC), willing to give permission to use brain tissue that was collected during autopsies for research.
The families of any child who died and underwent autopsy in the state of Iowa from 2005 onwards are eligible.
