Shalom Community Impact Center We support refugees and immigrants with access to educational, social, and economic upward mobility

Shalom started in 2010 as a fellowship of refugees worshiping in their native language and assisting each other with daily life. Through this fellowship, it became clear the need is great and resources can be difficult to access for new Iowans. Eugene founded SCIC to support refugees and immigrants with access to educational, social, and economic upward mobility.

Last up: from the Democratic Republic of the Congo🇨🇩: Eugene Kiruhura. Eugene is the Lead Pastor of Shalom Covenant Church & Founder and Executive Director of Shalom Community Impact Center (SCIC). Through his non-profit work, he provides free preschool, after-school tutoring, English classes, and more to immigrant families in Polk City. His unique story and journey helping people at no cost is truly AMAZING! Lets Celebrate Eugene’s story together at Passport to Prosperity 2025.
