The National Pork Industry Foundation received a generous contribution from the family of Keith Berry last month to memorialize his passion for the industry, his work for the foundation, and his time serving as NPPC President alongside then-CEO Neil Dierks.
During Keith's presidency, the industry faced many challenges around mandatory price reporting; a possible ban on fatigued hogs; voluntary country-of-origin labeling; national animal identification; and international trade. He was proud to march alongside producers from across the country to Washington, DC, to show lawmakers how these challenges would affect family farms like his.
That hard work and dedication are exemplified by the kind gift and all the contributions the Berry family has made to the industry. We wish them health and healing in this time of sorrow. This gift will make a substantial impact for graduate students pursuing careers in the pork industry, supported by scholarships from the Neil Dierks Scholarship Fund.
