Beckett would like to give a woof out to all of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for him and all of us to have the freedom to beg at the grill.  Before you crack open your favorite beverage and load up your plate take a moment  make sure your gates are closed. If your dog is overstimulated with company, put it up in a quiet spot. If you haven’t taught your dog grill manners, put your dog up. If your dog does not like fireworks, make sure you take it out on a leash tonight and don’t leave it outside. Be safe.

It’s a wagging Wednesday here! We have so many happy tales who have been here too long. (we are talking more than a year) It’s impossible to do an adoption event with just one person and so many dogs that need homes. These guys arranged from 12 pounds to 72 lbs. A few are part of our sanctuary and cannot be adopted out to the public. We are left with a quirky group of misfits that are going to fit perfect somewhere. Searching for that perfect fit may take some time, but it will be worth it. Before accepting any dog, do your homework on the breed. These guys have been let down in some of the worst ways. Our goal is to ensure that the bad part of life is over and it only gets better. We cannot take on anymore until some of these guys find homes. Like all rescues we thrive on donations, which are also down with applications. If you are unable to help in any way, sharing is free. Every single one of these guys are worth it.

Tillie wants to give an update! She has gained all of her weight back and is sporting her shiny coat. We are thinking about visiting our friends at the vet just to say hi so we can fill her need to get extra attention from her friends. This is the healthiest and best she has looked since she has been with us. Go Matilda.

This is Harvey. He is looking for his forever home. He is very hardy. He can move anywhere. If you forget to feed him, he will forgive you. He will be happy to see you. His water conditions are not super hard. He can have memories that last up to 3 to 5 months. If you have to rehome him, he will forget about you in about three months. He can learn tricks. He is very smart. He doesn’t need walks. You can talk to him if you want.  He feels pain and discomfort. You can learn by watching his body language.  if you want to leave for the weekend, you can even buy a feeder with a timer. Your children will learn things they can do and not do without getting hurt while learning to respect a life. If this does not fit the “ flex” you are looking for maybe some of you should head out to the local shelter and take pictures with the big beefy dogs that you can’t handle or don’t want to put the time in or have the responsibility of. If you can’t keep Harvey alive for three years, you probably shouldn’t get a dog. Lots of people are getting dogs they should not have . They are not Cash cows. They are not flexes. There are so many returns, dumps and unnecessary breeding. Your mom never bought you a Harvey and it shows.

Our intake has been shut for a while. Adoptions are down. Donations are down. Gas prices are up. Cost of food is up. This is not stopping us from finding different ways to make a difference. Meet Max. If you can’t tell he is a big boy. He WAS the problem child. He destroyed things that could not be replaced. He was difficult to walk. He was difficult to get a leash on. He’s not aggressive or mean. (just a big jerk) he used his size to bully his humans into doing whatever it was that he wanted to do. They have exhausted all options and rehoming talks were open. Max has gone through our boot camp program. Our goal was to keep him from being rehomed with behaviors that would definitely result the shelter life. Max has turned a new leaf. He is a working beast and we can’t wait to get him home. We may not be able to take on more dogs, but we have the capability to keep dogs from being rehomed and out of the shelters. We will be sharing some of his training progress.
