Leal Walking School Bus The Leal Walking School Bus is here to help reduce traffic, increase physical activity, and provide a safe way for your children to get to school!

In an effort to encourage and enable Urbana’s children to walk and bike to school, Leal Elementary School will launch its Walking School Bus Program on April 15th. The Walking School Bus is a program in which a group of children walk to and from school under adult supervision. The Walking School Bus concept was developed to enable children to have a safe, consistent system to walk to school on a r

egular basis, even when traffic, weather, and crime are concerns. Studies show that fewer children are walking and biking to school, and more children are at risk of becoming overweight. Changing behaviors of children and parents require creative solutions that are safe and fun. Implementing a walking school bus can be both.
