SELF HARM / INJURY AWARENESS DAY 🖤

Self harm if all too often a misunderstood problem. Today is a day to help raise awareness, and pierce the veils of stigma involving self injury.

When someone causes deliberate self-injury or harm, the action is an indication of emotional distress.
An individual who is trying to cope with fear, stress, anxiety, depression.

Q. Is someone who self-harms just trying to get attention?
A. No. When someone self harms they are seeking relief from stress or other anxiety. They usually hide their injuries due to shame.

Q. Are there treatments for those who self-harm?
A. Yes. Treatments usually combine therapy and medication.

Angel suffered in silence and tragically took her own life.
That doesn’t make anything her fault. She literally did not have the ability to express what she was feeling.
Angel left behind a lot of wisdom with her words. I believe she left them for us to learn from. We can feel so hopeless sometimes, and everything in life seems to have gone black. Sometimes, we really do feel like we just want to die.
Talk to someone about these feelings. You don’t have to suffer in silence. You don’t have to suffer alone. There is a way out of the darkness..and the journey begins with a conversation.

ANTI 🚫 BULLYING 🚫 WEEK THE ACT OF BULLYING
One of the most prevalent issues today is cyberbullying. While all states have criminal laws that “apply” to bullying, not all have special statutes which relate to cyberbullying or bullying that takes place outside of school. Furthermore, many schools do not have any set rules/laws which specifically apply to cyberbullying. The pledge of zero tolerance is merely a good faith campaign. Many incidents are downplayed and unfortunately even overlooked. The ones who are suffering are our kids, they are the victims of what is a criminal act. When these incidents are downplayed, it reinforces the false thoughts of “no one cares” and “this will never stop”. Most importantly, the thoughts of “the only way to make it stop is to die”. This is real. This is happening and it’s getting worse.
Bullying of any kind is WRONG. Any act that one commits to intentionally cause harm to another person is WRONG. When it literally causes a person to not want to live another day.
Bullying is a crime. Period.
Laws and rules need to be reinforced, new laws need to be put in place and punishment needs to be strict. We can make a difference when cyberbullying starts being looked at as CRIMINAL and not minimal.

One of the most prevalent issues today is cyberbullying.
