The start and end dates of the WCS Equity Pitchathon have been moved back. The event is now set to start on April 11th, and the submission window will close on April 19th at 11:59PM! Our theme is Disparities in Access to Tech! There are three track options for participants to submit for: policy, prototyping, and journalism. In the policy track, you can submit a policy solution relating to the theme that any organization with agency(university, government, etc.) can implement. For prototyping, propose any technical solution to a problem within the theme, and for journalism, inform readers about an issue related to unequal access to tech that you are passionate about!

Register here at https://go.illinoiswcs.org/pitchathon-registration if you are interested in any of the above tracks! If you’re participating in a track you have minimal experience with, there will be resources and office hours to help you learn more about it! More specifics can be found on the event website (https://go.illinoiswcs.org/equity-pitchathon) and slack.

Thank you for joining us for the WCS Equity Pitchathon, our first annual event to increase conversations about potential solutions to issues in diversity and equity within tech. The Women in Computer Science Growth Committee is hosting a new event to get students across the university more involved in conversations about increasing inclusion and diversity within tech in industry and at universities, especially in relation to equitable access to technology. If you’re interested in an event to create non-technical solutions to problems in tech, register at https://go.illinoiswcs.org/pitchathon-registration for the WCS Equity Pitchathon and work to create either a policy proposal, a proposal for a technical solution, or a journalistic article about any issue related to the topic of equitable access to technology. The top 3 submissions in each track will also get multiple additional WCS member points. WCS points can be used to get free WCS Merch.

If you are interested in a track you have minimal experience with, there will be resources/tutorials to help you learn more about it! More specifics can be found on the event website (https://go.illinoiswcs.org/equity-pitchathon) and slack.
