Another Boo in the books! Thanks to the great team of folks that made it happen! We had about 480 attendees and an amazing 90 volunteers!
Maddie, Diana, Cheryl, Carol, Kathy, Allison, Kelsey, the Michael family for donating all of the pumpkins, West Liberty Salem FFA and art classes for carving them, and the many, many other wonderful volunteers, THANKS! If you have pictures from Boo, share in comments!

Join us next week for a walk and talk about Cedar Bog’s unique geology! This FREE program starts at 4 PM on Thursday, October 15th. No registration required. 🪨🌳

Join geologists Tyler Norris and Molly E. Hunt for a trip back in time to the Ice Age. After a short talk about the local glacial geology, participants will be led on the ADA-accessible boardwalk through one of Ohio’s premier natural areas.

Attendees will learn how the Ice Age shaped the area's landscape, leading to the formation of the bog. Ice Age plants and animals will be discussed as well.

Hikers are encouraged to wear sturdy hiking boots and/or waterproof shoes, bring hiking/walking sticks, and have plenty of water, snacks, sunscreen, and bug spray.

The event is free and recommended for ages 5 and up.

Cedar Bog Nature Preserve will be CLOSED on October 11th, 2026, to let our volunteers, board members, and staff rest after Boo in the Bog. We will open on Wednesday, October 14th with normal hours. See you at Boo!

We’re very excited about this weekend! Do you have your tickets?

This time of year we begin to see the seed heads of the wonderful flora of Cedar Bog. You probably have many in your garden as well. Please LEAVE them! They provide food for birds over winter, shelter for many insects, they add nutrients back to the soil when they break down, and they add visual, textural interest to your garden! Can you match the picture to the name? Liatris, goldenrod, evening primrose, ironweed.
