Furever Friends at Mercer County Animal Control. "Hi we're a small rural shelter in Aledo Illinois and have a young female German Shepherd named Lucy. She loves people and walks but would have to be an only dog. She's starting to get kennel stress so we're trying to find somewhere for her."
Clearly black/tan female. Young means they don't know her exact age. Hard to test with cats and other dogs when in a kennel because they are on high guard all of the time, but sounds like she either may not like them, or will need time and work. They are very small, so plan to travel to them to meet her and see if she is your perfect pet. Please be kind and only inquire if serious. *Cross-post, contact Animal Control directly, Central IL GSD Rescue does not have possession of this dog.*

Brandy is a sweet senior baby at one of our friend shelters. Please consider being Brandy's forever home so she can spend Christmas on a soft doggie bed instead of in a shelter. We see this a lot in shelters, older dogs roll in because they are being replaced with a Christmas pet. It is disgusting. Please honor Brandy's love and loyalty and adopt her today!!!

Alex, the black and tan 5 yr old, and Jake, the solid black 1 yr old, need homes. They are rescue dogs. They are German Shepherds. I am over forty and have done rescue over 25 yrs: do not ask me if they bite, do not ask me if they get along with other animals. They have met several, they like some and not others. People do not neuter their male dogs prior to 6 mths and we wind up with dozens of f'd up males, many, many have had to be euthanized. We have dozens of give ups, almost exclusively intact males, in our email. These are the last 2 males I want to deal with and we need a break from humans for a long while. Alex is very sweet and well behaved. He resource guards because his previous drugged up owners nearly starved him to death. The problem is solved by feeding him in his crate and never leaving treats out. Jake is a puppy. Clearly taken away from his mom way too early. He is super sweet and loving and rides perfect in the car. He has potty problems and poops and pees, a lot. He is on a schedule and has had several techniques. He is a great farm dog and adores people, he was at the farm all summer. Actually had some clean crates overnight when he was outside all day. Almost all house training issues stem from a puppy being taken from their mom too soon. Pups should stay with their mom until 12 weeks. Yes, he has been completely vetted. I am not a car salesman, these dogs need homes. Don't email for more info, this is it. If you want to meet them, let me know. Can't handle a slightly pi**ed off human that is direct? Then I will save you the trouble of owning a German Shepherd, they will rule your life and judge you everyday.

Community Dog: This dog is available direct from his family. Direct adoptions reduce stress on the dog and let new owners have tons of information on their new pet. Do not contact the rescue. We do not have this dog and are not responsible for any aspect of the dogs adoption. This is a service to connect pets that need new homes with new owners. Thank you! Bio:
We are needing to rehome our neutered, 75lbs, 2 year old German Shepard/lab mix , Bear. He is a very sweet, loving, and friendly pup to all, especially other pups. He is a goofball and will have you cracking up when he plays 😂 He has never been around cats. He has been around children, not babies (but I’m sure he wouldn’t be a problem with them) and he loves them. He is very energetic, loves balls and going on adventures. He is crate and potty trained. His crate is definitely his safe space and he has no problem being in it while you are away or at work. He is great in the car and loves road trips. We have went as long as 8.5hrs with him to Arkansas with no problem at all. He LOVES the water, and spends a lot of time in the summer swimming in the river and sometimes the lake. He does very well camping too! He is good on leash (takes him a few minutes to settle his excitement) and practically puts his harness on himself 😅 Overall a great dog.

We have had him since he was almost 1 and we are rehoming him because we also have another high energy pup that we’ve had since 7 weeks and them together has just been too much for us to handle. I would recommend him go to a home where he can either be the only dog, or with a dog that is very tolerant/patient of a young energetic pup. He just wants to play 24/7. I want him to go to someone that is ready to be patient and give him the love, exercise, care, and adventures he deserves! I would prefer to do meet and greets, especially if there will be another dog. He is up to date on all shots/vaccines and has a clean bill of health.
