As you know the Nipmuc Warriors Club has been in place to raise monies to help offset some of the costs associated for high school athletics. With all the budget challenges that face the towns of Mendon and Upton the school system is under heavy scrutiny to control cost. Not sure if you know that user fees to play high school sports are at an all time high with some families paying close to $500 j
ust to play on one team. As costs rise and fees rise the ability to raise money for the standard athletic equipment becomes increasingly difficult. The Warriors club needs to find new methods of raising money for the larger needs of the school. For example the track at Miscoe needs to be updated (Nipmuc cannot host track meets because of its condition and our spring track athletes must train on a dirt track). The baseball and softball fields are in need of renovation. In order to raise the funds needed the Warriors club starting a campaign to reach out to our Alumni for donations, volunteer efforts and fundraising ideas. We have created a page and we would love you to friend the page to keep up to date on all the exciting fundraising ideas that we planning. Other items to keep an eye out are a spring 2011 golf tournament (date and location to be confirmed) and a possible fundraising action event that will auction away the collected banners in the Nipmuc Gymnasium. Our first annual alumni fundraising event is the “Alumni Years from Graduation Match Program. This is a simple and annual program to donate to the Track and field renovations projects based on your number of years removed from graduation. For example less than 10 years from graduation you would donate $10 and every year after that you add a $1.00. So if you have been alumni for 21 years you could donate $21! We also challenge those who played multiple sports to use the number of sports as the multiplier. So continuing with the example, you played a fall, winter and spring sport you would multiply the $21 by 3 to make a donation of $63. It is critical for the school system to maintain their fields and find ways to fund these efforts. Please consider a donation to match your graduation or volunteering during our planned events.
