We are only a little over a week away from the petting zoo! In addition to the animals and ice cream, we will also have the Ag Centric Technology Trailer, which has many hands-on opportunities to learn more about technology in agriculture!

We had a great time at the Minnesota State FFA Convention on Monday! Paul Blonigen, Bryce Roerick, Nick Warner, and Josie Roerick competed in Dairy Cattle Evaluation, Skyler Landowski competed in Soils Evaluation, Aubree Roerick and Micah Holmes served as chapter delegates during the business session at convention, and Natalee Hoffman and Avery Kleve took in a couple of workshops and completed some community service. We then attended the first general session of convention, where we heard the retiring addresses of two state officers and watched former advisor Gretchen Schleper get inducted into the Minnesota FFA Hall of Fame! To cap the day off, we stopped for supper at The Original Malt Shop before heading home.

Last week, the welding class had the opportunity to tour Standard Iron in Sauk Centre! They learned about the wide array of manufacturing capabilities Standard Iron has, the tools, technology, and machines used, and the importance of having a growth mindset and work ethic to be a valuable employee. It was very interesting to see the mix of manual and robotic welding, and to hear how critical proper organization and planning are to maintaining their workflow. Thank you for having us, Standard Iron!

Last week was a busy week for us as we celebrated National FFA Week! The FFA members did a wonderful job of planning dress up days, activities with elementary classes, activities during HS lungh, and of course Ag Olympics! They really showed teamwork, planning skills, and a lot of responsibility! Check the captions on the pictures for more info.

The Intro to Ag Science II class finished up a unit on Floriculture today, just in time for Valentine's! Students began by learning the principles of floral design (like color, harmony, and balance), practiced those principles by making mock arrangements with craft supplies, and finally, put their knowledge to the test by making real floral arrangements. The students got very creative with the supplies they were given!

Our Fish and Wildlife CDE team competed at the Region 2 FFA contest today! Aubree Roerick, Micah Holmes, and Danny Gunderson placed 9th as a team, doing very well for a team with two new members. Danny placed 13th individually! Great job, team!
