The WCOED works closely with local, regional, and state-wide partners such as JobsOhio to assist in finding and securing programs that provide growth assistance for local businesses. The organization works with many other entities to educate and secure assistance in areas such as workforce development. Many programs, such

as the Business Retention and Expansion Program, are also conducted by the Office of Economic Development to define strengths and weaknesses of the local economy as identified by existing businesses and workers.

Our office is saddened to learn of Insteel’s recent decision to close its Upper Sandusky facility at the end of October. We recognize the significant impact this will have on its dedicated employees and their families.

We have already been in contact with Insteel’s plant leadership and will continue working closely with them, the Wyandot County Department of Job & Family Services, and our local industry partners to connect affected team members with employment opportunities and other available community resources.

At yesterday's annual meeting, WCOED Executive Director Greg Moon was appointed NORED Treasurer; along with President - Amy Sealts (Putnam County Community Improvement Corporation, Ohio), VP - Chris Singerling (Ottawa County Improvement Corporation), and Secretary - Tim Copsey (Paulding County Economic Development, Inc.).
