Doggie Detour

Doggie Detour Dog Rescue and Rehabilitation. Doggie Detour is a small independent rescue located in Upper Sandusky Ohio. One by one we will continue to save dogs.

Doggie Detour is a not for profit family run rescue and relies solely on adoption fees and donations from kind-hearted people to off set the cost of vetting and caring for the dogs in our care. Doggie Detour is a mission that grew from our love of dogs. We love all kinds of critters but there is no other animal that touches our heart quite like a dog does. Dogs are the most noble, forgiving, ho

nest, non judging, and loving creatures ever put on this earth and their devotion to their family is endless. Wonderful dogs are dying everyday simply because there are not enough homes for them. The majority of the dogs we rescue are what we call at risk. Most often that means they are in a kill shelter and are at risk of being euthanized. We often take dogs that are hard to place sometimes that is due to age, breed, or behavioral issues. One by one we will neuter and vaccinate them. One by one we will find them loving homes

We are a Doggie Detour for the lost, forgotten, surrendered, used up, too big , too small, too old, won’t hunt, dumped, abused and unwanted . Our rescue hopes to be a short detour from near death to a loving forever home.

We will be helping Hazel cross the bridge on Monday.
Hazel is one of the 1st dogs we took in when we moved to Upper Sandusky. She was 1 of 3 siblings, all which were truly feral, and scheduled to be euthanized at 4 months of age so we took all of them.
Cletus was adopted at 7yrs of age and sadly died of cancer just 2 yrs later. Duncan passed last year leaving Hazel behind.
At 14 1/2 Hazel has been slowing down quite a bit over the last few months, but now has started to have nighttime seizures the last few nights.

Lacy is looking for a new home.
1 yr old, spayed Coonhound mix.
She gets along great with dogs at the dog park and cats.
The problem seems to be at home with their anxious senior dog.
She doesn't like to share things but seems like she is mostly reacting to the anxiety. Regardless of the reason they are getting into fights and it's very stressful.

Little Luna lost the fight last night about 1:30 am. 😢
We found her sitting on the tire in the wheel well of my husband's car about 5 1/2 years ago. She had an old leg injury and and crinkles up ear due to many untreatws ear infections.
After about a year with no adoption interest, she became one of 7 sanctuary cats that we care for today.
It was our pleasure and honor to love and care for Luna. ❤️
If anyone would like to donate it would be greatly appreciated.
Luna's recent medical care ran about $500 with vet bills, gas and all the other extras we purchased, to temp her to eat and keep her comfy.
