A shipyard, located in Upper Nyack, NY has dramatically scaled it's operations focusing almost entirely on commercial ships.

They are CLOSE to receiving a permit that would allow them to drastically increase the space they use for mooring in the Hudson River to 45 acres. That's more than 45 football fields. A portion of this permit would allow for DREDGING!

Help us protect our river, our local environment, health & safety!

In a matter of days, a mooring permit for 45 ACRES (that’s like 45 football fields) on the Hudson River, in front of a historic residential community could pass!

The Application seeks to pre-approve multiple dredging events that will dig up 1,500 cubic yards of toxic sludge and then transport them through our community via dozens of trucks all without municipal or environmental oversight.

If this permit passes it will set a precedent which could allow for mooring fields to be constructed in other river towns along the Hudson.

This would be devastating for our local environment, the 3 endangered species that depend on the river (bald eagle & 2 types of sturgeon), and local residents.

The mooring field will be seen from as far away as from the top of Hook Mountain to the apartment buildings along the river in downtown Nyack, affecting hundreds of homeowners, obstructing businesses like the local boating clubs and negatively impacting the river’s wildlife as a result of its construction.

We are looking for a public hearing so all residents in the area can attend and be heard. Please sign the petition today, time is limited!

Please visit our website for a timeline of events and documentation of events, permits and reports we have available.

You’re doing it Rockland!

With your support we have make significant progress, but we’re not done yet. Keep the momentum going.

Keep signing those petitions and make your voice heard. Together we’re stronger!

In the days since the Army Corps first published its public notice, we have made substantial progress.

253+ letters submitted opposing the mooring field
• Army Corps has extended the public comment period to November 27

• Congressman Lawler issued a letter to the Army Corps questioning adequacy and validity of the application

• Upper Nyack issued a letter to the Army Corps questioning adequacy and validity of the application

• Assemblyman Zebrowski’s office reached out requesting an audience

• Friends of Upper Nyack v North River Shipyard has reaffirmed its request for an injunction with NY Supreme and will seek to deny the Shipyard’s weak motion to dismiss next week

• The undisclosed “mooring permit” application has been discovered and analyzed discovering gross deceptions and inaccuracies.
