Hello all, I am hallelujah excited to be back after a long struggle with multiple sclerosis and breast cancer but God took my hand and personally walked me through the hot, burning fire with no physical scars and a lot of weight loss. I'm stronger than before in faith and ready to take my place again in the Father's battalion. I had to suffer through the fire to qualify to fight in His battle. I must work now with the Spirit Driven Women website to bring it up-to-date and reactivate it. I will stay in touch. Hang in there with me!

There comes a time when one door is closed so that another will open. That time for me has arrived. I am closing the door to Spirit Driven Women (SDW) so that another door can open. SDW was established three years ago to fight against domestic violence and domestic minor s*x trafficking (forced child prostitution). I fought a hard fight that was not well-received by our communities and very few churches. I will continue to work on these issues as part of my new direction. I am grateful for the opportunity to learn first-hand about humility, patience, falling and getting up again. Given that Republicans are now the majority in both Houses, my path must be modified. Women, especially of color, are in deep peril. As an African American womanist political scientist and a former theology student at Wesley Theological Seminary, it is now time for me to teach women the truth about the genesis of woman and traps that snare our unsuspecting psyche. For example, we must stop believing media that works to keep us confused and afraid to challenge untruths. it is imperative that we UNDERSTAND issues that affect us such as female mass incarceration, healthcare, tress, poverty, retirement, relationships, genocide of our children that goes unpunished, ebola, and many others. While I step out on faith, it is scary because the truth is not meant for us to understand because when we understand, we can change our circumstances. I ask for your prayers as I rest a while and travel through a period of restoration. On June 20, the Department of State released the 2014 Trafficking in Persons Report. This annual report provides a global accountability tool through the evaluation of each country's efforts in prevention, prosecution, and protection to combat trafficking.

In 2010, the Trafficking in Persons Report first evaluated the United States. The nation was ranked in Tier 1 ("Countries whose governments fully comply with the TVPA's minimum standards for the elimination of trafficking") - a tier from which we have not deviated. While Tier 1 indicates that the U.S. is making significant efforts in prevention, prosecution and protection, it does not indicate a low prevalence of trafficking in the country.

This report further affirms the importance of Shared Hope's local support in India (Tier 2), Nepal (Tier 2), Fiji (Tier 2) and Jamaica (Tier 2 Watchlist), countries that need further support and development to comply with the minimum standards outlined in the TVPA. By aiding local organization that seek to prevent and protect victims of this crime, we seek to end cultural tolerance for child exploitation and inspire the development of a network of protection within the local community.

To learn more about how your state is specifically responding to this issue, check your state's Protected Innocence Challenge Report Card. This report evaluates each state's laws that pertain to domestic minor s*x trafficking.
