If so, here’s an opportunity to spread the word: Nominate an unsafe employer for this year’s Dirty Dozen report from National COSH. The deadline for nominations is Friday, February 9th.

Based on your recommendations, the National COSH team will select this year’s Dirty Dozen and publish a report in April 2024 in observance of Workers’ Memorial Week. Our goal is to shine a spotlight on employers who are getting it wrong – and lift up the voices of workers who are joining together to make it right.

Trench work can be very dangerous. 22 fatalities reported in the first half of the year is alarming.

After charting an alarming 22 trenching deaths the first half of this year, OSHA has made trench safety a national emphasis on inspections. In July, the agency announced it was launching enhanced enforcement initiatives with a goal of protecting workers from known hazards.
